How long has it taken for you to get all of the prereqs completed for the BSN?
I have been working full time, 4 kids, 1 husband :0) and going part time to three quarters time to college since Fall 04. Its been a while since I was first in college and my first career, Radiography, was 2 years in a hospital based program. Great school, but nothing transferred.
I feel confident that I will have enough credits to apply this January for the Fall 09 class, although my fall 08 semester is going to be crazy!
Hang in there everyone!

My first degree was a BA in Communications, so nothing transferred for my AS in Nursing. Well almost nothing, Eng Comp 1 and Psychology was it.
Took me two semesters at a madmans pace.
Fall 07 (16 Hours) 3.93 GPA
API, AP I Lab, Sociology, Nutrition, Human Growth and Dev, Liberal Arts Math.
Spring 08 (18 Hours) 3.94 GPA
AP II, AP II Lab, Micro, Micro Lab, Chem, Chem Lab, Statistics, Art Elective
Was proud of myself, got As in everything except in AP I + AP II Labs with B's. I didn't work or have much of a life in the process, but I'm taking the last required course this summer, good old Pharmacology. Starting the fun stuff this fall.
The only classes left are Nursing Lecture 1,2,3,4; Nursing Clinical 1,2,3,4; and Skills Lab 1&2 all the way to graduation.

I started my pre-req in the fall of 04. Still not quit done with them, but plan to start the last of them this fall.
I know whatcha mean - 2 kids, hubby and a fulltime job... fitting in a class or two each semester and still maintaining some sanity is a challenge.

Hey, I started my pre-reqs in spring '03, I just passed 3rd semester in an ADN program.
Keep plugging away, your circumstances are tough but you'll get there. I know it seems like an eternity until you will be ready to apply, BUT once you do, it'll fly by (trust me there's never enough time). Best wishes to all of you future nurses who are still working on pre-reqs. Lloyd

I started my prereqs in the fall of '05. I went part-time for the first three semesters and full-time after that. I finished the last of my prereqs this last semester (spring '08) and will be starting a BSN program this fall. I'm a single mom of two kids and went through a divorce in the midst of it all, but came through just fine! Hang in there...it will pay off in the end.

I'm working full time so:banghead: it should take me well into 2012 before I get the prereq's out of the way.

I started mine in Fall 2007 and am completing my final prereqs this summer. Luckily, I was able to bypass the general education requirements due to a previous bachelors. I am currently waiting to see if I've gotten accepted to nursing school for this Fall 08.
I'm on the same plan but I started last year so I have a few years of schooling ahead of me...

I did the same: started in Fall 2007 and I'm finishing up my last couple this summer. I also have previous degrees that gave me some transferable credits, but I had absolutely no sciences on my transcripts when I started last Fall.

I graduated Dec '05. Took me a year to realize I wanted to do nursing although the medical field was my goal when I left for school in 2001. Sp 07, I took a CNA class, Summer 07 I had to retake Psychology due to me getting a D my first degree, then fall 08 I took Chemistry, Intro to Bio, and a few other B/S classes. Then this past spring semester I took A&P 1, Micro, and Dev. Psych. Now I only have to take A&P 2 over the summer and to get a head start I'm taking Intro to Nursing in the Fall.
I'm applying to an ABSN program and they only classes that are required for acceptance into the program are 2 semesters of A&P, Micro, Statistics, a Computer class, and Dev. Psych. I would've been finished only the school changed their pre requisites for A&P. So that put me behind a semester for those classes.
Good luck to everyone!!!!!
How many pre req credit hours do your programs require?
I hope to apply at a university health science center and the pre req hours are 64 Hours!
I cannot apply until I have finished 42 hours, I will be at 41 at the end of the summer. By Jan '09 I'll have enough!
Keep on taking classes, every class you complete you are one step closer to your goal!!!!
