My husband and I debated for several months on whether or not to wait until I am finished with school to have a baby. We decided to go for it and got pregnant the same month :)
I will be in PEDS/Med Surg II next semester, then I will deliver my last semester - March 2009 (I am going to try to get induced over Spring Break - 8 days before my due date).
Anyone else expecting while they are in Nursing school? Anyone accomplished this or know someone who has? Any advice?
thanks :)

No, I'm not pregnant, but wanted to say congratulations and best of luck!!! I was pregnant during pre-req's and due in the middle of the semester, but that is nothing compared to Nursing school!!! Hopefully your doc will be able to induce you...that would be great! Best of luck!!!

Congrats! I know someone in my program that had a baby this semester. She delivered on a Friday and was back in class on Tuesday! From what I understand, she's exhausted, but doing well. lol I also know someone that was pregnant and took a semester off to have the baby and recover. She's now a semester behind me, but that's what worked for her. Not much advice in those stories, but I guess I just wanted to wish you well and say it can be done!

Hi!!! I wanted to say CONGRATS!!! and I am in the same boat...I am 19 weeks today and I start nursing school Aug 18. I am due Dec 16 but I always have them little early so I am shooting for Dec 8. This will be my 4th..I have a 11 yr old boy, 4 yr old boy and a 13 month old boy....I go July 25 for my big U/S!!! I had nursing orientation yesterday and have already informed my instructors on the situation and they are fine with it in fact they say they LOVE babies. I know it is going to be hard from what we were told yesterday but LIFE does happen and this baby was not planned , I was taking YAZ bc and it did not work ( I did not miss a pill). I am going to try to make the best out of it and I wish you all the luck in the world and a happy healthy 9 months!!! Feel free to stay in contact with me if you would like!!:heartbeat

You have to post what you find out at your U/S...are you hoping for a girl?

First I want to say congrats!!! that is so exciting! My hubby and I are having the same debate over whether or not it is a good idea to get pregnant and have the baby a little after graduation this May or if we should wait until after I start a job. I have been at my current job for 3 years and would be eligible for 12 weeks maternity leave where as if I waited until I started a new job I would only get 8 weeks until I worked for a full year at full time. I also would love to hear from those who have gone through school and been pregnant. Am i delusional that it will work out assuming I have a good pregnancy?

No I am not pregnant, I have a 4y/o son and although I would love to try for a daughter, my husband and I have decided not to. However, I did want to say congratulations to you and wish you all the best. I'll have my fingers crossed that the doctor will induce you.

Yes, I'm pregnant. I accepted an offer to nursing school in April, then found out in May that I was 13 wks pregnant (I have struggled with infertility in the past, so this was a big surprise......and blessing).
To add to the drama, I'm due Dec during finals week. Which I think will be a blessing, I'll have all winter break with the baby before class resumes in January.
I've emailed a couple of my professors and so far I have had alot of support, though they do acknowledge that it may be challenging. (I also have a 2 year old).
I'm figuring, so long as I plan my time wisely, and my professors know I'm a dedicated student, they'll work with me.
Best of luck!!!!!

Hi. I was pregnant during nursing school. I was in a BSN program and got pregnant in the junior year and delivered my first semester of senior year, a week before midterms!!! I also worked fulltime as a nurse tech at the hospital until the day I went into labor...I think what got me through it was my motivation...your baby needs a good future and by finishing school, you can give it to them!!! There will be good days and bad days( due to crazy hormones)...but once you have that baby it WILL make you the happiest person ever!!! You should be proud of yourself...and I really wish you luck! hugs for you!!!
ClarasicRn: that is a great outlook on things.. i think that will be the way I look at it when we are pregnant. thanks for everyone's input.
