What TEAS score does your school require?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am just curious what type of TEAS scores are accepted by other schools and how they judge the score. At my school you have to make an 80 or above to apply. It is a 4 yr BSN. I don't know anything more about how they weight it other than that but I am sure there is more to it. I don't believe they look at the individual areas but only at the overall score.

School: Kennesaw Sate University (Ga)

Specializes in ICU.

Oh, and the Kaplan nurse entrance exam book is not that great for science, for anyone who wants to know. I learned more online so far from geography4kids.com and their other pages, biology4kids.com, etc. But the practice tests are useful. They have one test in the beginning of the book to let you evaluate what you need to study most.

It was better than ATI's science section, thats for sure! lol!

I haven't received my ATI study guide yet. Kaplan is thorough but maybe a little over done. For someone who hasn't taken a science since '01, it's a lot to take in. But I'm sure it will still help me prepare once I get back into it, hopefully lol!

I am taking the Teas test July 9th and I am totally frazzled:idea:.......I bought the study guide for $40 and the math and reading sections are fairly easy, but the Science part terrifies me ugh! I have never had Chemistry or Phyisics of any kind and dont know what I am doing. To everyone who has taken the Teas can you please give me some idea of what to expect for the science portion? Thanks so much!

Specializes in Oncology/Hematology.

The science portion is crazy. It has geology, chemistry, micro, and god knows what else. I think nearly everyone fails the science portion the first time around. It's practically sheer luck.

Specializes in GYN/GON/Med-Surg/Oncology/Tele.

At the school I was accepted to the minimum composite score is a 75...(I scored a 76.8)

At another school at least a 40 on each section.

Both only allow two attempts and you have to wait at least 8 weeks before the second attempt

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

At UCF (University of Central Florida), this next application period for the BSN (both accelerated and basic I suppose) is the first time they are requiring TEAS. Their website states "Pass the standardized Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEASĀ®) with a composite score of 74% or above" with no further specifics besides the website links. Will have to find out whether that's a composite of the entire test or just the reading and math parts. Since no other graduates or current students have taken the TEAS for this school, we don't have an average to go by ... I guess this next applicant pool will set the standard, but I don't know if that is a good thing (!!!!)

The school i go to Cal State San Marcos awards points for scores between 71%-100%. I got 90% the 1st time and felt a little disappointed so took it again and got only 91.2%, so i took it once more and got 94.1%.

I'm also applying to Kennesaw (80%), GBCN says 78.9% (though they say better than the national average which is 72 or 74% so I'm not sure which one they want. Maybe it's their average...West Ga is keeping theirs a secret until after you apply, Clayton State wants a 77% I think, Emory doesn't require it, and Georgia State hasn't revealed their TEAS either (middle of switching from the NET). I got an 85.3 so hopefully that will work!

At Ivy Tech in Indiana (ASN and LPN programs) you must have 80% in Reading, 70% in English and 60% in Math and in Science to be considered and then those scores are rank-ordered to determine who will be offered admission. You can take TEAS three times in two years with at least 30 days in between and use the best set of scores (can't combine best scores from the three).

i got an 85.9

i know people at west ga got excepted with 74-80s. my gpa is 3.6 which isnt too high but i hope i get in somewhere! i think the most competitive ones in GA are northga and kennesaw. good luck to you all!

70. Only two attempts, with a 6 month gap.

90+; two attempts
