AWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! :monkeydance: I received my acceptance letter yesterday to LPN program for Spring 07 at Gwinnett Tech here in Georgia. I start nursing classes in SUMMER. What a wonderful early birthday present........I'll be turning 45 on March 12th!!!!!!

I am SO excited and nervous. I didn't think this was ever going to happen. I've been trying to finish up my pre-reqs and get into a program, RN or LPN, for 5 years now. :smackingf As you can see from my screen name "momgrad5/07" my goal was to have been graduated by May 07 when I started this journey. Well, I'm a little off, but I'm DOING IT!!!

I finally did it..........I'll be graduating Spring 2008!!!!!!!:roll

P.S. I'm ready to buy, buy, buy, nursing student STUFF!!!

I start the beginning of my dream on your birthday! On March 12th, I start LPN school. And like you I thought I'd be done sooner than I am..but thats water under the bridge now. Live for today!

I pick up my books next week and I am like a kid counting down the days till Christmas LOL

Hey! Not fair, I start a few months before you..and graduate a few months AFTER (tentative grad date is Friday, June 13, 2008)!! How long is your schooling? Ours is 15 months full time, straight through, no breaks in summer, no vacations..nothing.

My program is a 12 month program. We are to start Spring, go through Summer 07, Fall 08, Winter 08 and finish up in Spring 08.

I think I figured that up right.

Have you bought anything besides book?

Ohh..ok..you originally put you start in the Summer '07 and end in Spring 08..thats what had me curious.

Oh yeah, I've bought some books at the bookstore (not needed books for school) to refresh, I borrowed a friends books who was in this program already. I got my Saunders Student Nurse Planner, etc.

Since we start in two weeks, I have everyting they said we needed. Scrubs for class time, ordered my clinical scrubs through the school, shoes. We needed (and I bought) a stethascope, penlight, watch w/second hand (had to get one of those. I own no watch with a second hand..heck my watch only has a marking for the 12 spot). Pens, pencils, notepads, I got a voice activated recorder so I don't have to go too insane taking notes and I can concentrate on the teacher when she's speaking. I got the ok from the program director that we can indeed use recorders.

The basic student stuff.

My bad.....they let you start in the Spring in case you have 1 or 2 pre-reqs. left to do, but actually nursing courses start in Summer.

Sounds like you have a great start on your supplies. Did you get one of those clipboards with a calculator on it? I've heard those were good because they open up so you can store assessments an such.
