Yes, this is the same info. I read. I just think it is odd that I had an EFC of $3,000. This was based on unemployment from last year. What about this year? You know? I have been a student this past year working on pre reqs and I have paid for all of them with my own money which has been around $1500-$1700. This year, the school year in question, I have no income to speak of. I guess I am just confused. No worries. I plan to apply for it next year once I have had no income at all. Not sure how unemployment is considered a reliable source of income, since it is a temporary solution to an obvious problem i.e joblessness. I guess there are people out there who need this more than I do. I think it is an amazing opportunity and I will definitely look for more options. I too have relatives who fought in the Revolutionary War and Civil War...Where are these scholarships? Cool!!

Here's a link to you should check out. It's the Daughters of the American Revolution website. They have multiple scholarship opportunities, some deadlines have passed, but there are some with later due dates..

I'll try to find the civil war page later....hope this helps for now. Or, you might be able to find it through google...

Thanks so much! How cool! I really appreciate it!

Yeah..I got the email saying we could apply...which I did..but I know there is NO WAY I'm getting the scholarship unless Jesus Himself makes it possible. My EFC is 11744..so I'm not first priority. But, it was fun filling out the application...lol

I am checking out other scholarship websites as well.

I was excited about the possibility of going to a new place to work. You know? It just seemed exciting. I guess I could do that regardless. Good luck with your scholarship hunt!

I got an email yesterday from hrsa indicating it is available. I started the process today. Has anyone been accepted to the nursing program or currently in the nursing program? That's the only hold up for me is the entrance exam and then I will know if I'm accepted. Let's keep posting in this thread on update, help filling out the info., and etc...

Does anyone have an anwer?

It's not a nursing program..it's a scholarship for those entering or already enrolled in nursing school. What nursing school/program you do is your choice. You just have to work at a facility that has a critical need for nurses after you graduate.

This is my first time applying. Did you get the scholarship last year?

no i didnt

You know I'm upset, right... No problem at all! I'm a Marketing Assistant at a prestigious law firm. I make almost $45,000. No dependents..no spouse..living on my own. Yessir..it is 11744..crazy.

What's even MORE crazy is me applying to HRSA in the first place! lol But, the CRAZIEST..is I'm leaving my job to pursue nursing full-time. My last day is July 2nd. In the month of July..I won't be working AT ALL..because I have to take a basic nursing assistant course at my school during the day..and I'm taking Chem at night.

After that..my only job will be substitute teaching during the day while taking class at night. Did I mention no benefits. Right now, I'm looking for a weekend job as a unit secretary or something at a hospital. So, hopefully, I can parlay that into a part-time job and some benefits.

I can't wait to see what my award letter from FAFSA looks like. I have already been bugging the financial aid officer at my school about work-study, scholarships, etc.

Looks like I'll be cashing in my 401(k) and living off of that...:lol2:

Yea...thats what a lot of people do. This scholarship should deff go to those with an EFC of 0. Some kids dont have trust funds.
