I start tomorrow. I haven't gotten my book yet as I have been waiting for my loan check. I got it Friday just in time to deposit it so I can purchase books tomorrow. Good luck to you.

I am taking A&P online and absolutely loving it. We are studying Integumentary Systems right now :)

I started A & P on Jan. 18th, I have a wonderful teacher who explains things in a very easy way to understand. This is a relief after last semester in general bio. That teacher automatically assumed you knew what he was talking about and kind of breezed through subjects. We are covering chapters 1 - 5. Our first test is on Feb. 8th on all of these chapters. Most of them are review of general bio. We are also studying tissue's in lab, epithelial cells, bone, etc. So far there are alot of things to remember for the test that is upcoming. I am also taking Microbiology in the evenings, and that is alot of memorization. I have two more classes as well, sometimes it seems a little overwhelming, but I must do well in all of them. I guess it is just a breaking in of what is yet to come in nursing school. I hear they are very absorbed into their studies, as they are very time consuming. I had the fortunate opportunity to have a psych class with a nursing student who is almost finished. She shed light on so many things that were rumor's from other pre nursing students. You cannot listen to gossip. If I hear something that doesn't sound right, I go to the counselor's office and ask for myself. They ought to be the ones to know what is what. Well have a good weekend everyone, happy studying.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Good luck to you. A&P is an awesome course. The backbone of nursing, imo. Study hard and good luck.

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Home Health.

Tweety's right.. it is indeed the backbone of nursing.

Loved A&P.. truly my favorite course. TONS of info to learn and retain, but so very fascinating ! :)

I loved A&P 1 & 2. I am in Microbiology right now, just started. I am not too sure that I really like it. I pray that I get thru it. Good luck to you all.

I know this isnt the thread topic but I posted a thread about some rumors at my school. What kind of rumors did you hear? I have been out of school for so long, and seeing all these horrible things that people say and do, i.e. the rumors, just flabbergast me. I could really use someone to talk to that is going through the same or similar situation. I guess I am just looking for someone who has been there and knows how to deal with this stuff.

BTW, I forgot to add that I am taking A&P 1 and Psych right now. I love A&P so far. My instructor is wonderful and I cant wait to dive in to the rest of the semester. Psych is ok, I think it would be better if my instructor were more on the ball. He is just so scattered.

Today was my first day! I bought my books for a&P and my chem class..drum roll please: $321 yikes! But it's an investment. Chem is tomorrow. I am kind of glad that I got permission to take the chem and a&P1 together. I feel like the chem is going to be helpful.

My A&P1 prof. is no joke. We got to class at 10am and after going over the syllabus and taking attendance he said: "I know that only a few of you have the book so I took the liberty of making transparencies of chap 1....so let's start" About 11:30am he gave us a 5 minute break...but it was longer if you went to the bookstore to buy the book. And he expected all of us to purchase it during lunchtime.

It was an intese day. I go to school only on the weekends. So my class is 6 hours long! We start at 10am he gives us a 5 minute break around 11:30...then we break for lunch at 1pm...were back at 2 for lab...we get another 5 minute break around 3:30pm and we finish at 5pm.

Most of the other profs let their classes out around 2pm because it was the first day...not my prof. He let us know right off the bat...we are suppose to be here until 5pm and we will be every sat...so reconcile yourselves.

He seems strict but honestly that is the kind of professor I need. The lenient ones make me feel like it's o.k to slack. He makes me feel like cracking my books open. :chuckle

P.S I told the bf forget a romantic surprise for V-Day get me a bookbag with wheels and a starbuck's giftcard! I will be needing it.

I have my first "quiz" tomorrow -- yikes! The prof said it will be about 100 questions.... hope I do well! So far I'm loving it, though. Can't wait for the nursing courses in the fall!

Hello everyone, just checkin in. Currently we are on Ch 2 which involves the chemistry portion of A&P and it's not the most likable part at all. However we have a test on Ch 1-2 on Wedn Feb 4 and I just got finished reorganizing and simplifying my notes from lecture so that they will be easier to study from. Lot's of memorization but I keep telling myslf that I can do it.
