  1. Congratulations on your graduation! If you click on Search in the yellow bar at the top, you can search for threads that contain the word "interview" and you'll find lots of great information on this subject. Best of luck to you in your job search! Edited to add this link: https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/can-we-make-sticky-interview-questions-88629.html HTH!
  2. Thanks for the tips, everyone - I'll keep them all in mind! Thanks for taking the time to respond.
  3. Hi everyone! I just had my first clinical orientation at the hospital today, and next Tuesday will be my first "real" day. I'm VERY excited, but I'm also nervous about making the transition from lab to hospital. Would anyone like to share any tips? I'd love to hear from others who felt the same way I do.... TIA! :)
  4. Thanks everyone - I'll check them out. I really should have taken a picture of wire-man, but it's too late now, unfortunately!Have a nice day.....
  5. Hi everyone! Hope your summer is off to a good start. I'm wondering if anybody has a good website to help with learning the many arteries and veins. I have my first A&P 2 lab practical on Monday night and for part of it we have to be able to identify MANY arteries/veins on this wire-man model. I have plenty of diagrams to look at in my books, but I was hoping to find something online as well. Thanks for any help you can give!
  6. wow - and people tell me i have my hands full....! i'm in school and have 4 kids (11, 11, 10 & nearly 8), a husband, and i work about 25 hours a week as a medical transcriptionist. this past spring semester i only took a&p1 and sociology; now i'm taking a&p2. that way in the fall i'll be be able to focus on nursing. i have to admit, i have very little free time, but i do enjoy everything that i'm doing and i wouldn't have it any other way! where there's a will, there's a way is my motto. best of luck to you!!
  7. I'll be starting on May 31st - a 10-week course. It will be really nice to have it over and done with for the fall! I have my final in A&P I on Thursday of this week.... almost done! Good luck to everyone.
  8. I'll be taking A&P 2 (10-week course) from June 1 thru the beginning of August. I'll be glad to have it done before I start the nursing courses in the fall.... Anyone else?
  9. At my school, 38 is the average age of the nursing students, so I guess I'm right on track - just turned 38 in December, and I certainly don't consider myself too old for this! When you stop and think about all the working years ahead of us, wouldn't you rather be spending them in a job that you really want to do? That's how I'm looking at it anyway... This is my first semester back in school, and I pushed off the nursing courses until the fall so that I could spend this semester and the summer semester working on A&P, micro, and sociology, all of which I never took my first time around in college. I absolutely can't wait to begin the nursing courses in the fall! Best of luck to you as you pursue your dream!
  10. I just went to an information session about the nursing program at the local college here, and they told us that the average age of their students is 38 - sure made ME feel better!
  11. Thanks for your replies! I think I'm concerned about making this change to nursing because it will be career #3 for me - I worked as a chemist for 13 years before working as a medical transcriptionist. Looking back now, I really should have followed my heart and gone into the medical field from the start (hindsight is always 20/20, right?) but better late than never! Anyway, thanks again for your input.
  12. Hi everyone - first time posting here. I am very, very strongly considering going back to school for nursing, and I would love to get your input on a few things before I make the leap. I am currently a medical transcriptionist working from home, and with nearly every report that I transcribe I'm wishing that I was there WITH the patient instead of typing about him/her. I have always had an intense interest in medicine but never "went for it" like I'm considering doing now. I was wondering if you might be willing to share a few things with me about the nursing field, such as what you like most about your job, and what you like the least. What do you find most challenging? What do you find most rewarding? What advice would you give to someone considering nursing? Thanks so much for any and all advice/tips/suggestions you are willing to give! Betsy
