Thought this would give us all a nice visual once folks place their vote.

Currently, I am in Ortho-Neuro Med Surg.

Also, I have placed a similar poll in our Male Nursing Student Forum. That poll can be viewed here:

Good comparison threads when viewed together.

Army Nurse?

Since there is no draft and basicly open opportunities for nurses in the US why would you want to put yourself on the line to be in a combat area unnecessarily unless you are some kind of super patriot. I served my time as a combat medic and made it out alive. This seems to me to be a poor career choice and suggestion at this point in time. The federal government already funds schooling for civillian nurses.

Specializes in ER.

ER X 7YRS, TELEMEDICINE X 6YRS............would like to go into O.R. which was my first choice in nursing school. That's whats so great about nursing, options.

Specializes in Critical Care, Education, and Acute Care.

I've been in critical care for years. Recently I switched into the ER. So I guess I fit the stereotype.

Within a year I should be full time in education.

This poll would have more meaning if we could compare it to the results from a similar poll from only female nurses.

Ortho/Neuro now, but planning on switching to the ED at the beginning of next year. After I get my nationl certification and start on my BSN.

Specializes in ICU, Trauma, CCT,Emergency, Flight, OR Nursing.

Flight nursing for the last 5 years, ER/Trauma for 7 before that and ICU for 5 before that. Still love every minute of this career I chose so many moons ago.

I am an ICU nurse. Started in the ICU right from school. I am an adrenaline junkie that enjoys the rush!

I don't think I could hack it on the floor...

New LPN, Med Surg here Going to start RN next year would like to do ER or CCU/ICU.

2yrs in geriatric/ltc, recently started onsite chart reviews which is basically data collecting for Ins Co.

Why was anesthesia left off the list?

Sweetest gig in nursing.

Specializes in Internal Med/ ID, Geriatric.

Lifelong nurse:yeah: jus starting out his career, Internal Med/ ID going back to school for my RN want to be a flight nurse/transport:lol2:

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTAC, Critical Care.

I've worked ED, PCU, Telemetry, Post Op. Now I'm working on a "Stroke" unit (really we're Med-Surg/Tele, but the bosses say we're supposed to get all the stroke patients).

I like my present unit, but when I get my RN in May of '11, I want to go to ED or ICU (ain't made up my mind yet).

Specializes in SICU, Burn Unit, PACU, CCU.

Hemodialysis..

I worked in burn unit, PACU and SICU as well.. It's really nice having a variety of experience..
