Published

Hello all, I am curious to see what the current pay rate is across the country so we can better prepare ourselves and negotiate better salaries! Please try to keep this poll to any graduates after 2010. Thanks!

1) State

2) Hourly Salary

3) Experience, if any

4) Specialty, if any

Here's mine:

NJ

$26/hr new grad, no exp., recently changed jobs $33/hr 1 yr exp.

Only 1 year old RN :saint:

Nephrology/dialysis

RNMatthew. Plus the pay isnt bad either. Lol. Best of luck. I would love to hear more about the picu. Keep me updated on how ur doing. Always been my dream to be in nicu or picu.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.
plus, the 1:1/1:2 ratio can't be beat ;)

Don't be fooled. That 1:1 assignment might keep you running harder than any 1:5 on a peds inpatient unit. I've had shifts when I didn't even have time to think about what I was doing, I just did it.

You're making almost as much as I am after 20 years. Well done!

I'd rather run 1:1 than 1:5 any day.

$24 base in my area was a shock, I wasn't expecting anything over $22 so I was pleasantly surprised. I've completed all the HR stuff and officially start March 2!

How expensive is cost of living there? Housing, food? I have a friend who wants to move to Fairfield.

CT

After reading this thread, I think my next job should be in CA:)

Specializes in public health.
Good luck with that. You'd be coming into a very flooded market. Also, taxes are ridiculous here, as is the cost of living.

What is the tax rate in CA? I am in CO, and after I pay my tax, health insurance and retirement I am only taking home 70% of my income... :(
