  1. I was given 2 level lll babies my first night off of orientation. I received 12 weeks of training but still did not think it was an appropriate assignment for a new nurse.
  2. I have a 3 year contract with a hospital due to the fact I'm in a specialty. My total training cost $7,500. It's not a teaching hospital. If the contract is broken I would have to pay back the amount in a prorated rate by the amount of time I worked for the facility. I don't see my self staying there for that period of time due to the desire to branch out and due another speciality also the work hours, lack of staffing and lack of safety when they are short staffed. I plan on doing it in the most professional manner possible. As new graduates we get stuck in these contracts when the bills are stacking and urge to get our foot in the door.
  3. I am currently a NICU nurse. Eventually I would like to transition into the school nurse setting or community health setting. How would I be able to do this?
  4. Does the state of Florida hire new graduates?
  5. I failed nursing process 1 back in 2012. I was attending the south campus at the time. The Horror stories of BC goes back many many years. Long story short I never went back into the program. I decided to take more classes and transfer to a BSN program. Not Chamberlain (BTW). I graduated in August 2015. Passed NCLEX in October. In November landed a job in the NICU. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Always remember if you are meant to become a Registered Nurse you will become a Registered Nurse. No matter what school you attend.
  6. Go online and look for hospitals having job fairs or open house. They may say experienced nurses only but don't let that stop you. Sometimes they need to see you in person that's is how I got my first nursing job and I'm a new graduate. Good Luck!
  7. Hi Rence1002, I graduated back in August, when I was in the program I did rent books from Amazon. Some books like the one for med/surg you will use in two semesters but other then that you could rent.
  8. I'm also a new graduate that landed a position in an level lll NICU. I'm super excited but nervous. Nursing School barely touches on the subject of neonatal care.
  9. Just took mine shut off at 75.Had about 27 to 30 SATA.I feel like a failure it was so hard. The SATA was coming to me back to back.
  10. I have heard about Jackson having a nurse residency program for January. I don't know if this true or not. Their website does not state much. Does anyone know of this?
  11. Pediatrics all the way for me!!!! Loved everything about this rotation. I was a little upset when I received med-surg for preceptorship but I'm brushing up on my basic skills and hoping that the Land of Peds is still available to me after graduation. Peds is a very difficult speciality to get into but if it's for me I'll get my foot in the door some how.
  12. Please Do Not be misinformed there is no such thing as a "easy nursing school". Anything dealing with patient-centered care and the Life of Humans are hard work. BC does have a very high NCLEX passing rate but other institutions in the South Florida area does as well including UM, FIU etc. You can research it. Also this is a ASN program which send out more students than BSN programs. Research that as well.
  13. There are not many Barry students who participate on these threads so I'm here to help anyone who is applying or interested.I know the Fall program is starting soon. I will be graduating from the program in August so I can assist in the majority of questions anyone has.
  14. Is this the only University you are interested in?
