Poll for those who have already taken NCLEX..

Published

For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

I passed! :clpty:

Specializes in geriatric, hospice.

i passed, whoo hooooooo

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 265 questions in 4.5 hours!!

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? i did take the hurt review. i guess it helped, since i did pass. but it only helped in certain aspects. the practice tests they give are useless. it did help a little bit on some of the priority questions.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? our school took a lot of the eri tests, and unfortunately, none of us did very well.

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 3 days.

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i was pretty surethat i had failed. i am still amazed that i passed with 265 questions.

6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes

1. 75 questions.

2. Kaplan review and NCLEX 4000 (did about 6000 questions in total) and watched Meds Pub nursing videos.

3. School offered NLN Diagnostic exam.

4. I took the test today and will be able to get results in 48 hours.

5. Disbelief, shock. I feel like I failed.

6. This was my first attempt at NCLEX.

Specializes in Acute Care.

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? i started out using ati review, but it turned out to be completly worthless, so i'm working on getting a refund. finished studying with the saunder's review book/cd, nclex 4000, and a box of mosby's flashcards.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? eri for the first 2 semesters, switched to hesi the last 2. hesi was much better, imho.

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 49 hours

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? complete utter shock/disbelief. it was just a really, really strange exam. i wanted to believe i passed, but it was just so out there and random, i was 99% sure i failed.

6. was this your first attempt at nclex? first and only!

Specializes in none.

1. I had 265...both times :crying2:

2. I did the online course on the ncsbn site, Saunders 3rd edition

3. We had to take the HESI after the first semester & then again at the end to graduate.

4. I got my results both times within 48 hours.

5. The first time, I knew I didn't do well. The second time I felt fore confident & felt I had a good chance to pass...but not!! :banghead:

6. Second time....don't know when the third is yet:bugeyes:

Specializes in critical care transport.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75 (don't get all excited, it took me 3 hours to do it)

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? Kaplan- not overly helpful. The last three days before the test, I just went through Saunders content with a highlighter. It actually helped me.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? We did HESI, and I am convinced that is the most similiar to the nclex.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 48 hours from appointment time in Missouri- paid 7.95 to get quick results.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? Certain that I had failed. Relieved, almost, that I could take it again and pass it with a stroke of luck... luckily, I didn't have to take it again. When I had heard people felt like they failed, I soon realized they really meant it. I had about 20 or so SATA questions, MANY endo/ infection control. It was the hardest test of my life.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes
