For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!
1. how many questions did you take on nclex?
75 and i passed!!! took my test on july 11
2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course?
used mainly a saunder's nclex review cd...just did self studying, but i admit that i didn't study as much as i should have...studied mainly the week before boards. i was just enjoying time with my kids and the time off from nursing school! before the results came back i was kicking myself in the a** for not doing the kaplan review..if for nothing else than to learn their strategies. 98% of my class did the kaplan after graduation and it wasn't until the nclex drew nearer that i was regretting my decision not to. especially after i was hearing one person pass after the next.
3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)?
we were required to take a hesi mid-curricular and exit exam.
4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
48 hours...ponied up my 8 bucks to find out from pearson vue. i could not take not knowing anymore!!!!
5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
i felt like i failed it miserably!! i was numb and in disbelief up until i seen "pass" on my results. hearing that this had worked for others, i checked my bon website 24 hours after i took boards for my name but it wasn't there so that depressed me even more! after that i just knew i had failed!! there were so many questions that were sata and meds that i had never heard of. i felt like i knew the answers to 10 questions maximum. i still can't believe i passed!
6. was this your first attempt at nclex?
yes and thank goodness the last!!!
oh and i forgot to add that i didn't think that the nclex had any resemblance whatsoever to the saunder's version that i had been studying. i think that is why i was freaking out so badly afterwards!!
good luck to all that still have to face this darned test. just take a deep breath and believe in yourself!!! :urck:

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Second and the last, thank God, first attempt 265 questions, second and last 75 questions.
1. # of Qs- 75!
2. Study materials: Kaplan live class (took this during nursing IV semester- do not recommend doing it this way b/c my focus was on passing nursing school, not reviewing for NCLEX), did Q trainers 1-7, 1 Q bank test; 1/2 of Saunders book- no Qs from CD- already sick of doing Qs!!
3. My SON offered NLN exams after every semester.
4. Just got home from exam- will hopefully find out Wed.
5. Thoughts coming out of exam: None- at Q73 I glanced at the Q-meter, freaked out a little, moved on and screen went blank at Q75. At that point I felt numb, with (+) distal paresthesias! LOL. Thoughts now 1.5 hours later-
6. First attempt, hopefully the last! will update on this
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? NCLEX RN. 75 Q's under 1.5 hours.2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? I used Saunders Review and the switched to Kaplan's online with a friend. I only read the book and did mainly the Qbank. I'd highly recommend the Kaplan review. I felt the questions and strategies were very helpful. If you can afford the class (I couldn't), take it.
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? We had an Arnett test in our last semester. It wasn't a thing like the NCLEX but it did give us an idea of what to work on. My score on that was a 0.8. The NCLEX pass point was 0.29.
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Just took the test today. Most of my friends that have tested on Saturdays had their results by Monday afternoon from the BON here.
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I'm relieved that I'm done. Not overly confident, but relatively confident keeping in mind that it is possible that I failed.
