  1. Thanks Eirene! I had no idea about the rep that correction nurses have here in Ohio. I guess I'll find out. lol I start the policies & procedures part of my orientation tomorrow. I'm so nervous. Late 1 time in the 6 month probation period & we're done! Kinda scary. I'm never late, but it's still a scary thought this winter. Was the training academy that rough? I will be working 3rds. It will be in Columbus.
  2. I applied in Ohio the the beginning of April. I interviewed May 12th by a panel of 2. I was asked several questions & she wrote down my answers. At the end of the interview I was given paperwork for a background check to fill out & invited back to a tour. The tour was held 1 week later & there were 10 of us present. Out of the 60+ who interviewed, the ones that didn't get background check papers didn't answer questions right & were not getting hired. I was then placed in the "pool" & was called the end of August saying they were starting my background check. My employer received my paperwork right away, but they waited 3 weeks to fill it out. I then received a start date for 1 week of orientation which will be the end of October & then I go to the Academy for 3 weeks. Very long process, but hopefully it will be well worth the wait!
  3. I am in Ohio too. How did your interview go?
  4. 1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 85 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? Saunders - CD only. I kept taking the quizzes so I could review the wrong answers after only doing 10 questions. The day before I really went over the pharm. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? 1 practice NCLEX-PN. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Took it Sat at 11:30am. Results today (Monday) around 12:30pm. I paid for the results. I PASSED! 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I felt like jello... so relieved it was over. I felt pretty good about it, but the next day I started really worrying & was afraid that I failed it. 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes!
  5. I just did practice questions off the saunders cd. The day before the test, I concentrated on the pharm quizzes. That helped a lot!
  6. I PASSED!!! I'm a Licensed Practical Nurse! WOOT! WOOT! -Vonda, LPN
  7. I took the test this past Saturday. I click refresh on the boards license verification page (I knew they weren't in all weekend). I also keep checking Pearson's website. My paper said that I have to wait 2 business days. I heard other people only waited 2 days (including a weekend day). If that happens this time I should find out today. Now I'm wondering if it's 48 hours from the time I started the test, ended the test, or from the time they transmitted the test to the BON. THIS IS CRAZY!!!!
  8. I take the NCLEX-PN on 7/12 @ 11:30am. 2 more days!!!
  9. I have to write a report based on the following questions: 1. Where do you work? (what specialty) 2. Who was your role model? 3. What was your motivation to become a nurse? 4. What gives you satisfaction? 5. What are your responsibilities? 6. What are your challenges? 7. What are your rewards? I'm in Nursing IV (out of Nsg V.) THANKS!!! :typing
  10. Yes, Misty! That would be great!!!
  11. LPN: Is it possible to work in Florida most of the year, and then take a 13 week assignment in Ohio for the summer through travel nursing? I don't want to travel the whole US until my kids are grown.
  12. I graduate in June & I'm hoping to take the boards in July. I'd like to start working as soon as I pass boards. When would be a good time to start sending out resumes?
  13. Hello NY Nurse! I am from Columbus, but I currently live 2 hours away. I graduate LPN school in June, and we are moving BACK to Columbus this summer. I'm married with 2 kids (12 & 3.) I'll be a new nurse, so if you're looking for a friend in the area, here I am!
  14. I graduate as an LPN in June, and I too plan on going through excelsior!!!
  15. I graduate LPN school in 6/08. When should I apply for Excelsior? I wasn't sure if I have to pass boards first, or if I can apply & then begin after I pass them. I was also wondering if the classes begin every month, or only certain months of the year. My LPN school is encouraging everyone to use College Network. Would this be a better way??? Thanks!
