For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

:nurse:.....took june 27, 2008
I did 78 questions on the NCLEX in about an hour.
I read the Exam Cram NCLEX book. Did take a review course, but we did a review the last week of school.
We took the HESI exam in February.
I waited two days. Right after I got the results on the internet I went to the mailbox and my license and certificate were already in there.
When I left I wasn't sure how I did when I finished the NCLEX. Since I only did 78 questions I figure I either did really poorly or really well. I thought some questions were hard, so I figured I must have answered some right. You only have to answer about 50% correct, so I didn't feel too bad.
It was my 1st attempt.
Good luck to everyone!

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? I used Saunders Review and the switched to Kaplan's online with a friend. I only read the book and did mainly the Qbank. I'd highly recommend the Kaplan review. I felt the questions and strategies were very helpful. If you can afford the class (I couldn't), take it.
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? We had an Arnett test in our last semester. It wasn't a thing like the NCLEX but it did give us an idea of what to work on. My score on that was a 0.8. The NCLEX pass point was 0.29.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
75 questions
2. What materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
Hurst 4 day review, Saunders comprehensive book and CD (the CD questions were kind of easy but good for learning content), Davis which I won in class and for the most part didn't really like (except some of the charts/graphs were useful) and the Davis CD (kind of easy again, but good for content). I really focused on knowing the hurst stuff and supplementing it in areas I felt it was weak with Saunders. I used Lippincott for more challenging questions during the last week. I didn't actually buy it ahem...I just went to barnes and nobles and kind of used it there. don't know if that is technically a good thing to do, but I did spend a lot of money on coffee/other books so I didn't feel too bad.
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, HESI)?
We did ATI. I got a 98 % pass chance or whatever when we took the comprehensive in Feb/March
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
Took it Tuesday the 8th and found out this morning!
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
I felt certain I had failed. Some of the questions seemed SO easy and some seemed SO hard. I didn't see much of a middle ground. I felt like I was bombing or for sure I was getting them right. Getting 18 SATC questions was also discouraging and they were all very difficult.
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
Yes.
