Hey Nurses!
I'm conducting some research on PTO accrual times across the US. I would love to hear what yours is, especially if you are in Home Health in one of the following states - Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Texes, South Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. I can start first! I work for a home health company in Oregon and accrue 0.01923/hour during the first four years. It caps at 110 PTO hours.
Looking forward to your responses! Thanks.

At my last facility, with 14 years seniority, I accrued 11.29 hours based on a 72 hours pay period, with an annual carryover of 320 hours.

8.5ish hours per pay period as a 1.0 employee. I guess that equates to 0.1 hours/hour. Cap is 240 hours. This is for employees 0-4 years.

At my last employer, a local public health department, employees 0-3 years accrued 8 hours per month for a full time employee. Maximum cap was 240 hours. Sick leave was accrued separately, and at the same rate.
My employer before that combined vacation and sick time and called it paid time off. It accrued at a higher rate, .09615 per hour for the first 3 years of employment. Max accrual was 600 hours.

So what happens if you don't use your acrued hours in the required period?

At both my current and previous facilities you have the option of either selling some back or allowing it to rollover into a long term sick bank.
The hospital I worked at would let you cash them out, or you could donate to someone who was short hours.
At the local health department, your hours just stayed in your bank, but stopped accumulating. They strongly encouraged people to use their vacation time. The hospital, not so much.
