I'm still think of getting into the nursing but is still worried that I might be the only guy taking this course. I feel that I will be the only guy out of 50 in my class. When you were in nursing class, how many guys were in there?
In my classes I have been the only male in one and there was 3 of us in another. I had so much fun in the class with the women to a point the teacher would pick with me to get it started. I learned alot from them and they me. Don't worry about the women, some will be cool others won't. If a guy has a problem with your sexual choice then thats his problem. I am secure in my manhood and by the way, who am I to judge anybody? Just be yourself and be open to anything that comes your way.

i start my actual LPN to RN class tomorrow... in orientation there were two of us males..... they say the female instructor in the program LOVES men.... LOL thank god!!! by the way, there are 30 students total. good luck in school.
I read your post and I live in Atlanta. Can you forward me some info on the school your attending? I am still doing my pre-rec's but I should be in the LPN program in the spring of 06. I just want to weight my options once I'm finished. Besides maybe you can give me some help along the way. PM me.
By the way, my name is Scott.

I am at Brenau University which encompasses a women’s college and has traditionally been a women’s school. I am the only male in my class of 40 something I think the number is. I have been treated no differently by the staff or other female students and absolutely LOVE the university. I am SO very happy with my experiences at Brenau that I could not possibly think of going any place else. I have found that many of my classmates have become more of like sisters to me than friends or classmates. They have helped me so much in the last few weeks since I have had such tragedy in my family with loosing my entire home town of Waveland Ms. To hurricane Katrina that me and my 40 family members are in awe of the caring and supportive environment.
My Wife, my wife’s mother and my wife’s grandmother all graduated from Brenau and I can say that in my experience it is a first class school that has accepted me with open arms at every turn.
I am in the BSN program and there is no place I would rather be. I have no doubt that I will graduate and continue to advance practice degrees with a solid and complete education as well supportive and caring alumni base for the rest of my life.
Brenau is the closest thing to being home that I have experienced since moving to Atlanta, I am just a small town boy from a little gulf coast town in Waveland Mississippi and Brenau makes it feel just like home to me.

In my class alone we have two males out of 10 students. But, out of the 40 students in the evening program I would say 10 are male. I've been in my school forever taking prereq's and coreq's slowly... I've seen a dramatic increase in the last yr of male students in our school and I love it. It's a great career and everyone should be able to do it.
I have the same fear when I went into the program. Luckily there were three more male students in the program. If it would have been only me, It would probably been a different story. But as I went through the program. I enjoyed it more since I'm sorrounded with lots of good looking girls. Enjoy and good luck.
I just completed a 1-year long LVN program in mid-October '05.
When we started there were 16 females and 8 males (roughly one-third of the class was comprised of men). When we completed there were 15 females and 7 males. One of the men dropped out after six months into the program, and one of the women failed the program mid-year.
Mat,
Sorry it took so long to respond, but I have been really busy with school. I have heard a lot about Brenau from a bunch of people and I always feel that when I hear something more than twice form different people it's a sign. I am going to try and get as much info as I possibly can about Brenau.
Thanks alot,
Scott

We have 15 males in my class of 60 students. When I started my rn program last year we had about 18, we lost a few during our time in OB.
