I'm still think of getting into the nursing but is still worried that I might be the only guy taking this course. I feel that I will be the only guy out of 50 in my class. When you were in nursing class, how many guys were in there?

Spring 2006 - ADN Program. More and more men are applying to our program. This coming semester - 82 students admitted with approx 35 - 40% male students.
I was the only guy in my nursing class and I thought the same way when I first enrolled and prayed to god that there would be another guy in the class. I got there and spent the whole four years as the only guy. But after the first semester I found I didn't want any other guys in the class. It was like my territory and I got along with everyone, lookin' back I had an awesome time so don't worry about it, and hopefully you will be the only guy (you'll find out what I mean)
We started as a class of 42 students with two men, and graduated 25 students with me being the only male.
The other guy was caught stealing vicodin from a job he had as a nurse tech and selling them at a local bar.
He was disappeared. I dont even know what happened to him and I was strongly (and privately) encouraged to not ask-

Great post :)Out of an original class of 32 we had 4 guys. Now were down to 19 & 2. One got out on med maths, one stopped at LPN, leaving myself and one other. That said, it has been a blast being a guy in the program. You get to learn all the "secret" stuff women talk about, you're the model for assessments 'cause you can dof your shirt without turning 10 shades of red, and clinicals are a whole lot more interesting (you get the patients that you can really learn on).
On the downside, I can't tell you how many times I've had to say "No, I'm not a doctor, I'm the nurse." And there was one occaision where I heard the comment that men are nurses because they failed medical school. I countered that one with: I'm not a doctor because I want to take care of people, not treat diseases. People are more fun to help. That got there attention and I never had a problem since.
Don't worry about being the only guy. Enjoy it.
Oh and I'm 1 of 7 guys in a class of 96

I was the sole man in my class of 21 woman. It was VERY difficult at first because A) These woman are much younger than I am for the most part and B) they chit chat all the time every day. I found this EXTREMELY irritating at first but eventually built an immunity to it. Key to building this immunity was to embrace their culture and try to "go with it" . Now I enjoy their company and feel like I've made many valulable friends.
Ultimately it's up to you

We started with 30 total students; ten of them being men. Going into the last semester, we have 5 men left and a total of 14 original class members.
