I'm still think of getting into the nursing but is still worried that I might be the only guy taking this course. I feel that I will be the only guy out of 50 in my class. When you were in nursing class, how many guys were in there?

I started by nursing classes this past spring and of the 72 students in the program 5 of us were males. It didn't really bother me so don't let it bother you. Remember, in the end you will be glad you did it and will never have to worry about finding a job.

3.333% of my class was male. Or 2 out of 60. The other guy was very distant and didn't want to have anything to do with me, I'm only guessing because I am gay, but who knows. It's sad because we could have been friends as the only two males in the class. We did have to do an assessment and practice a bed bath on each other but that was the only time the whole program he spoke to me.
What I'm saying is who needs the guys, the women are in the same boat as you are.

personally I dont see why people are like that.. i was friends with everyone in my class... Men, women, homosexual, heterosexual
Off topic, but I've found that some str8 guys aren't secure enough to hang around a gay guy, or in his case to even be seen speaking to me. They figure other people might think they are gay, and that's a big deal to them. Or that the gay guy wants to hit on him. It was a medium sized town in the south, 15 years ago. I can't say that was his problem, he could not have liked me for any other reasons. No problem, I wasn't there to make friends anyway.
On the other hand, with my male coworkers on the job, all of them are str8 (I know because they speak of wives and girlfriends) and we get along fabulously.

not a guy but...
We haven't had orientation yet....but just did our CPR/AED class and I'm sure there are at least 8-10 out of 54...maybe even more, most of us took our pre-reqs together so we've got an idea "who got in" and who didn't. I think it'll be great!

I know of four males that are nursing or prenursing at our campus. The other three have kids, wives or girlfriends. I on the other hand am gay, no one really says much about men in the nursing program. I have found that people care more about having a competant nurse more than whether it is a male, female, gay, or straight. My S.O. and I are both CNAs and no one cares that we are a couple just that we do our job.
