Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.

So my advice to everyone is to wait it out or pay for the quick results!
Congrats on passing! And you offer a PERFECT example of what not to do, LOL....I post on this subject A LOT, and never ever tell anyone to put in invalid credit info, as it's completely unreliable. But...others do
RunnerRN2015 said:You're right, there may be a very, very select few where the trick doesn't work. That's why it's wise to use a card with less than $200 on it. If it results in a false result, you're not out any money.
Just to add another weird variation to the mix (and probably the result of a computer glitch), someone posted that she used a gift card with five bucks on it, it TOOK the five bucks....and then told her she couldn't register. So.....WTH? According to the popular theory, a card will either be charged for the full amount, or declined for insufficient funds. Yet.....not always.
Answer: if you offer Pearson Vue money, don't be surprised if they take it!

I used a VISA gift card with $10 on it. Got the good pop up. I let 2 classmates use the same card -- they both got the good pop up. I still have my $10. ?
That's the trouble with tricks -- they're just tricks and not 100% foolproof.

This is the most absurd comment I have ever read. A system set up to charge $200 is now charging $5 to register people for exams?
I said it before that there are people who only come to this forum to discourage and spread negative rumors.
The so called Pearson Vue Trick works. It has never failed anyone, NOT one. And FYI, there are states that do not participate in quick results.
Out of 46 students from my cohort that I know of, PVT has been TRUE in all 46 cases. The only guy that failed used a card that had less than $200 and his payment was declined. 45 that passed all got the good pop-up with varied amounts in their cards.
I don't get why people are willing to gamble with $200. I didn't know about the PVT back when I took my NCLEX in 2010. I just waited the two days & got my quick results. There is no way I would gamble with the PVT now.
I understand not all states have quick results. But why risk throwing away any amount of money if you didn't pass? Yeah it sucks to wait, but it would suck to lose $200 more.

Uh...no, that's NOT what I said, you really should read more carefully before you go off as you did. I SAID she was charged $5 and NOT allowed to register again. AND I said I expected it was a computer glitch, which is something to be aware of when playing 'tricks'. And if this is the most absurd comment you've ever read, you haven't been on these forums long!
NurseCalif said:I said it before that there are people who only come to this forum to discourage and spread negative rumors.
If that's directed at me, and I have to assume it is since you QUOTED me directly, you couldn't possibly be more wrong if you tried. I have spread no "negative rumors", I have posted FACTS. I am not going by what a few people I know did (anecdotal evidence, anyone?) I'm posting what has been learned over the years in working with people preparing for and finishing up after taking this exam. Why you would call this "negative rumors" is strange to me.

Theoretically, and only if one does it correctly, then you'd be correct in that statement. Which, btw, is what I ALSO said, so....who are you arguing with?
NurseCalif said:And FYI, there are states that do not participate in quick results.
Yes....we know this....so, again....who are you arguing with? The fact that there are States that do not participate is pretty commonly addressed on these threads.

How great for you and your 45 friends! Clearly, in doing the PVT CORRECTLY, they found their answers. But is your point that it can never, absolutely is not possible for errors to occur with the registration software that this 'trick' is based on? If so, you are very sadly mistaken. There HAVE been errors, there HAVE been glitches, and they've been written about quite a number of times. For those people, I assure you, your assurances that they cannot possibly have had this happen to them is pretty hurtful.

We did the PVT immediately after our exams and 24 hours after our exams, we still got the same results that went on to be confirmed by the BRN. PVT has never failed anyone, and lets not use the unverified story of 2 people out of 100 thousand that the PVT has worked for, to make a claim.

For the group of 45 people you are mentioning, their second scores all matched their first scores. Yay! But that is NOT the same thing as when they do NOT match, which is the whole POINT of waiting 24 hours, don't you see? Results obtained after only the first score is ONLY the results of the first score. And it is true that MOST of the time, the second score is the same, but it's happened ENOUGH times that it DOES matter. BTW, where did you get the statistic of "two people out of 100,000"? I sure didn't put that out there, did you make it up? In which case....you're about as 'verified' as anything else!
Over the YEARS that I have been reading on this, posting on this, I *HAVE* talked to people who made the mistake of going by their first score only.....accepting jobs because the PVT 'told' them they passed. Only to find out they didn't. And believe me, just as many upset because they were telling everyone and anyone about how they were finally an RN....only to find out that no, they were not.
I'm glad you are happy with your results, truly. And your classmates. But PLEASE don't believe that your experience in this overshadows SO MANY OTHERS who have not had the same. They are no less 'verified' than you. It would be nice to let others learn MORE about the PVT.....even if you don't need to, yourself, anymore.

So many? Today is 1/13/2015. Please can you point us to the so many that did the PVT on this website that got the good pop-up, but later failed the Nclex?

I know what the date is.....thanks?
Look, I'm not going to dig up these posts for you, nor forward you the sad PMs I've received.......don't believe they are there? Fine. Doesn't matter to me. In fact.....here ya go: you're totally right. No one, not one person ever, has EVER had any problem with the PVT being incorrect. No one, not ever, has had a glitch with the software. No one, not ever, has been charged for a registration they later found out they did not need, as their "fail" became a "pass". Nope, never happened.
You are 100% on the mark, no one can tell you anything you do not already know.
Better? Ok. You win

I took NCLEX RN and attempted the PVT - I had read on here to put in an incorrect expiration date, and if it asked for the correct card number apparently it meant you failed. Well I had gotten the "bad" pop up. I was devastated and convinced I failed miserably (75). I got my results today and I actually passed! So my advice to everyone is to wait it out or pay for the quick results!
