Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.

I'm either having some SERIOUS deja vu moments here or I just answered your question five minutes ago....maybe on another thread??
Hello fellow nurses and nursing students,
Thought I'd share my story since I have experiences with both failing and passing using the pearson trick. First test was back in early December 2014 and it cut off at 76 questions. I did the pearson trick about 2 hours after my test and when I entered my payment information, I got a receipt. Bummer. It was accurate, I had not passed the test.
Took my test again today, 75 questions this time. I just did the pearson trick (again about 2 hours post test) and this time after entering my credit card information I received the red triangle of glory! I am not in a quick result state so I will have to wait for my official results.
I am more inclined to trust the "trick" though since I've personally experienced failure and know for certain that the trick works on that end so hopefully...... hopefully..... it'll work this time, too! And hopefully the red triangle is true!!! Please!!!
I'll update everyone when I get my official results!!!
Good luck!!!

I'm truly hoping you passed (of course!) but you should hear a word of caution: doing the PVT only two hours after your exam only tells you that your first score was a 'pass' because you didn't get charged....but it doesn't give you the all-important SECOND score.....for that, we keep telling people to wait at least 24 hours after completion of your exam. You have TWO sets of scores, and in your case....you only waited for one.
Good news, though, is that at 75 questions you weren't an "on the fence" test (that might very well have a different second score than the first--it happens). In your case, it was pretty conclusively PASS or FAIL.....and since you played the PVT early, I'm hoping that your 'pass' sticks! Not likely to go from definite yest to definite no (IN THIS scenario, minimum number of questions, ONLY).
Good luck!
Thanks, RNsRWE! I hope so, too! Failing the first time was a very painful experience. My wife is a nurse, too and says that taking the test a second time probably takes more courage than taking it the first time. It's not easy to pick yourself and brush yourself off after something like that. She just kept reminding me that my degree wasn't dependent on the test. Her patience and faith in me was a big factor in my ability to try again. Once I received my results, I saw that my weakness was in prioritization. I bought a book by Bartz, Kumagai and LaCharity called Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment (2014) from Elsevier. I highly recommend this book as it went through every single body system and outlined the priority actions and concerns for that system. I felt much more confident going into the second test.
I will be sure to update with my 24-hours post PVT and again once my officials come in.
This DB really helped me work through the negativity I was putting myself through.
Hello all
I took my NCLEX earlier this morning here in Pa, and the exam stopped at 75 questions.. I had a lot of select all that apply, a lot of medication questions, etc. I went to register for another exam and it let me. Does this mean I failed or will the results on Thursday possible be a PASS?
they let me take the exam more than half an hour earlier and finished in about an hour and 20, would that have any effect on the results showing on Pearson!?
Has anyone here gotten a bad pop up aka gone to register (before the trick changed) or submitted and gotten charged 200 but STILL PASSED? Help!
I just took my NCLEX this morning at 8am, I've done the trick about 5 times throughout the day and I keep getting the good pop up!! I had all 265 questions and felt like I failed since all my classmates that passed had it shut off at 75-85 questions. I'm trying not to be to hopeful but based on everyone's posts I'm thinking I passed!! Can anyone tell me if they know for sure about people that still failed even thought they got the good pop up? Still really nervous...

Yes, it has happened to quite a few people.

So, I feel like I have read many people talk about the "bad" pop-up before the 24 hour mark and then ended up passing. Has anyone gotten the "good" pop-up before the 24 hour mark (after only the first scoring) and then end up failing (after the second scoring is done)?
