Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.
I took my exam yesterday at 1300 and finished at 1800, getting all 265 questions. I did not know about the 24hr rule suggestion so this morning I attempted the "trick" and got the bad pop up. I feel quite devastated actually and was wondering if anyone had received this bad pop up but actually ended up passing?
Hi I just wanted to share my experience with PVT. I finished my exam on 1/28/15, 160ish questions, at 1700. I tried the PVT with my personal credit card about 1.5 hours later, and the good pop showed. I tried the trick just right now, but I used a prepaid 10 dollar visa card from walgreens this time. It worked, and I still got the good pop up fortunately. If you want to try the PVT, definitely use a prepaid visa card with insufficient funds.

Yes, which is exactly the reason it IS the recommendation of those who understand this thing to wait 24 hours. There is another thread, in fact, where just the other day someone did exactly what you did---'bad' pop up, paid $200 for a failed exam--and found out on the BoN website that she actually did pass. In your case, all we know is you failed the first scoring, but don't know what the second scoring is. It might ALSO be a fail, but.....
Can't tell you at this point, no way to possibly know that now that the PVT is no longer an option for you. For now, wait for official notification or if you have a State that updates frequently on their website, check that to see if you're there.
Odds are, unfortunately, that you did fail, but.....it's only a guess at this point. You'll need to wait now to see for certain.
Where are the links? I have read every single blog about the PVT and I have NEVER seen anybody that stated they themself were charged but passed. I have seen many people comment things like you said, that they heard somebody had it happen. But I have never seen it posted on all of these thousands of comments about it. Not being rude, I'm just seeing so many people say that somebody somewhere had it happen, but nobody has ever actually stated that.
Took the NCLEX-RN on Wednesday (01/28/2015) at 9:30 and ended the test approximately at 11:00. I gave in and did the PVT a few hours after the test. Got the good pop up. Been doing the PVT every 3-4 hours because I'm that anxious and nervous!! I will found out the "official" results in approximately 9 hours. I will keep everyone updated!

Well, since you asked:

I normally don't take the time to do this for people who ask for links, as I figure they could search it themselves, but you seem to think this is some kind of Urban Legend ("somebody said somebody had it happen"). You said you have read everything about the PVT and never once seen this.....and since I could find it very easily, as it was JUST posted here, on this very site.... I posted an example for you.
The problem is not with the PVT being "wrong". The problem is with people doing it too soon (as I have stated over and over, with some people getting it and others not). If you do it right after you finish your test and your first score is a fail....guess what, you're being charged for that 'pop up'. And if your SECOND score is a fail, yes, no one is the wiser, you just think "it worked" and go on in the same way, sharing that misinformation. But if your second score is a pass (as happened in this link), you paid $200 for a registration you cannot use, and cannot get refunded.
It isn't an urban legend. It's how the software works.
Took nclex on Dec 30 2015,in California, my test stop with 205 questions.. I thought I fail, so I went home and going to pay to retake the exam again. This was like w/in 15 minutes after I took the exam... It wouldn't let me, it said I already schedule the exam. Anyway, I called the board yesterday (Jan 29), and they asked me did I tried the trick? I told them I did, but I rather see my the actual letter. So I got the letter later in the afternoon and I Passed...Goodluck and don't give up!!!!!
The PVT works. I took my NCLEX on January 27 @8am and i did the PVT trick at 1:30pm. I got the good cc pop up page and i did the trick again 24 hours later and still got the good pop up. I used an incorrect credit card expiration date and got the good pop up. This way you don't have to risk losing $200. So i say try it and if you passed you should get the good pop up page. 48 hours later, I got my results saying I passed……. I know how anxious I was after taking the nclex and I just wanted to know. Goodluck guys

UPDATE: PVT worked for me... Took exam on 1/27/15 at 0800 am.. received all 265 questions, finished at roughly 1140, did trick 20 minutes later and received good pop up.. also did trick with old PN registration and received same good pop up.. over the course of 48 hours did trick at least 10 times and all resulted with a good pop up.. checked results with Pearson this morning at exactly 0800 and received a pass!!.. Praying and prayers of family and friends and studying as much as I could worked for me... Glory and praising our heavenly father works all the time!!
