Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.
I did the PearsonVue Trick and it works! For me I had to risk paying the $200 right now by clicking the Submit Order of Step 2. (I almost had an MI! jk lol) It will have a red triangle with Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time. and not take your money if you passed. On 1/21/15 I finished my test @1000 and I did the trick as soon as I got home in 1 hour @1100 and got the good pop-up that keeps you stuck at step 2 not to next step3. I found out official results on 1/23/15 @0800 that I passed.
My advice if you find out you failed: I took this #$%^ test 4 times! 4 TIMES=$800 1 whole year after I graduated (I also flunked one year in high school and in the BSN program). So never give up and never doubt what you're capable of. Also you are your own worst enemy so make a routine. If the only way to get yourself to study is to study for an hour then reward yourself/relieve stress with playing video games for an hour (repeat) do it! I did! First 3 attempts I tried all different studying sources but got 265, 105, and 265 questions and failed.
How I passed: Hurst Review-has a 13 audio chapter review w/worksheets download. I hate books so this was the best option for me! I listened to it twice and made my own study guide. I took their one practice test and took the NCLEX the next day. Keep calm and read questions with the answers to complete the sentence slowly and think why/stick to what you know. You don't get penalized for going slow. (the NCLEX grades you on last 60 questions if you run out of time). Stay strong and positive! This time it took me 2 hours and I got 85 questions and passed.
I took the exam yesterday at 2pm, finished around 340. Just did the pvt trick about 20 min ago and got the good pop up. I put in my credit card(old prepaid card), and clicked next and got the good pop up. So we shall see. Problem is I bet I won't see it till Monday due to the weekend. Unfortunately.

If your State participates in Quick Results, you can pay the eight bucks 48 hours after completion of the test and get your official result. Computer works 24/7, doesn't matter if it's a weekend, holiday, or leap year ?
RNsRWe said:Congrats! What do you mean by "temp RN"? Once you are issued a license, it's permanent (unless revoked!).
Thank you!! I'm thrilled that I passed!!!
My state BON (NV) allows schools to send affidavits of proof of graduation/ degree requirement fulfillment in lieu of official transcripts with degrees since the school takes weeks to months to post degrees. Once the BON receives my official transcript, they cancel the temp license and give me my actual one. I can still work as an RN with this but it's not a regular active license.

Ok, got it. Thanks for the info; I'm always happy to glean more so it can be passed on to others ?
As for you, congrats again, and Happy Nursing!

I can tell by reading these posts that many of you are not doing it correctly....and why you are as stressed as you are. Please learn how it works, and you will KNOW what you are looking at when you do the thing!
Hello there, it seems like you know a lot about this trick. I'm just as anxious as everybody else who have taken the exam. I took the exam yesterday 1/26/15 and I did the trick this afternoon at around 3pm. It gave me the good pop up like most people are getting. I checked it again an hour ago which was 7PM and it still gave me the "good pop". Is this a good sign?. Did anybody actually have a good pop up and changed into a "bad pop up" after 24 hours?

Hi there ?
The caution to wait a full 24 hours before trying PVT exists because your exam is scored two times; once immediately upon concluding the exam, and a second at SOME point during the following 24. There is no way to know when that second score occurs, so.....we say to wait until the time frame is over. Each State BoN will receive notification from PV once both scores are finalized; they may get a notice in 15 hours, 22, you get the idea. NO one can know.....sometimes people will find that they have a license number on their BoN website even sooner than they can try the trick!
To answer your specific question, I have never once seen any pop up AFTER 24 hours' time be different from any later ones...or the expected result. AFTER 24 hours, if you have a 'good pop up', you can be pretty comfortable in having passed the exam ?
In my experience, having read hundreds of these situations, the only time there is a "change" in pop ups is when someone did the PVT right after the exam (first scoring) and later on did it again (after the second scoring) and found a different result. But, of course, it's exactly how it's SUPPOSED to work, if you know how the thing is scored
There are occasions where a Hold is placed on results, and once the hold is lifted, pop ups and/or results can be viewed. BUT a hold doesn't keep a test from being scored during that time, it means that no results are RELEASED until a hold is lifted.
