anybody?
A combination of the following:
1. Federal student loan for tuition and books.
2. Private student loan to help supplement my income. I wish I didn't have to do this because it costs so much to borrow money with a private student loan. But, for a two year program my husband and I decided to bite the bullet.
3. Savings. We saved up a pretty big emergency fund because with a mortgage to pay and me working only part time it's a bit scary!
Unfortunately we do not qualify for grants but I'm applying for scholarships and hoping some of those come through.
The military is paying for a good part of my college. I am working full time and my SC will be picking up extra hours to help out. I worked a lot of overtime to pay off my bills and put money into saving for when I have clinicals and will not be able to work full time.
I did a lot of preplanning for this.
Don't mean to hijack the thread....but for those of you with Stafford loans (or anyone who knows). Are Stafford loans big on the credit thing? Our credit has really suffered over the last couple years and I haven't even applied for a loan because of that. Someone told me that it doesn't weigh a lot Is that true?
Unfortunately, according to the government I'm a hair too "rich" for federal/financial aid, and unable to qualify for a lot of the school's scholarships despite my grades because...wait for it...they're also based on need. The curse of being middle class strikes again.
Fortunately, the tuition isn't too bad, so I have been able to swing it, though it's taking some heavy adjustments to my home budget. It's worth it though, to be able to graduate without any student loans this time around--it took me 11 years to pay off the last set.

I have student loans now, but the nursing school that I will be attending is private and you can not use stafford loads, grants or scholarships... I am in the same boat....i don't know where to get the money either. I also have a daughter in college.....but I promise I will find a way.....
