anybody?
I plan to pay as I go with my bonuses I get in April, July and October from my non-health field employer. Also, had thought I would sock away $50 per pay (every other week) to pay for the necessary books and equipment I will need. Since I am pre-nursing, I have time to prepare. Altogether, NS should cost right around 10k over the next three years. I added up the books and came up with $2500 needed JUST for books!
My husband is in the military and he was able to sign over half of his GI Bill benefits to me. I don't qualify for FAFSA. And I haven't found any scholarships I qualify for. I'm trying my hardest not to take out any loans.
Use the GI Bill benefits with pride, I am quite sure your dh earned it and you deserve it. Good luck to you and please thank your husband for his service to our country.
Because I'm an Australian citizen, I quality for a HECS-HELP loan, which is a zero-interest loan that's paid off with your pre-tax income when you reach a certain threshold, I believe ~$40k a year.
Bachelor of Nursing is ~$4000 a year, which goes into the HECS debt, which I can pay off when I start working.
Got to love it.
Look into WIA (workforce investment act) in your area. It's a federal program but every state/county handles the money a little differently. In my area it is a 5k lifetime grant that can be spread out over several semesters and can also be used for books if needed. It's not a huge amount of money but hey, every little bit helps!

I took out student loans, after graduation I consolidated all into 1 at a decent interest rate, talked to someone there and he gave me several repayment options. Of course I chose to have smaller mos payments over a longer time. No assistance where I work, but some hospitals have programs where you work where they will reimburse each class as long as you maintain a certain average. or even partial reimbursement.
