Passed CA NCLEX 2008, just got SSN this 2012, applied for CA-RN license

Hi to all! I passed the nclex last 2008. I just got my SSN last month as an employer based immigrant. Just a week ago, I submitted my Completed Application for Licensure by Examination including a U.S. social security number as instructed by the CA BON. My school also forwarded the needed documents.

My questions are:

Has someone gone through the same thing as I am?

What happened?

Did they release your license or not?

If yes: How long did you wait for your license?

If not: What did they say? Can you send me a copy? Did they make you do further studies?

--As i have said, I am on employment based petition, so with this, my employer is waiting for my license. With this, my life is on hold. I hope to be enlightened with this. Thank you so much.

Good thing you mentioned about the entity number. I called CA BRN again, spoke with the same lady. She told me that finally she was able to find my entity number for my married name. And I should wait for few more weeks because they're still connecting my old maiden file from my new application. The board will contact me for further instructions. Atleast now I have some clarity on this. What a day, I forgot to eat lunch because of this. Thank you again KWhit13.

I totally get you! And no worries. I'm glad to be of help. This thread has been helpful to me as well. I read 500+ comments here and some. Give it a month, if there's no update yet, call them again. You'll get your license, don't worry too much! ;)

Also, fax and mail the form and requirements. That's what i did. That way, they cannot tell me they didn't receive it lol

Thank you for your help. I'll give update soon..

Hi Everyone, just want to make an update on my case. I checked my breeze account today and finally saw my license posted, after 4 months of waiting. And after almost 10 years from the time I passed nclex in 2009.

It took awhile because there was a confusion on the part of BRN. I was living in another state, and they thought I was applying for licensure by endorsement. I called and emailed the board several times explaining that I wasn't license yet in any other state so why are they sending me forms for endorsement. The application I made online thru breeze wasn't there anymore. So what I did after 3 months was to send a hardcopy of my application( this is what I suggest rather than applying online). Another challenge for me that time is that my international licensing analyst wasn't replying to all my emails and whenever I called the board of nursing they always tell me that they cannot connect me to the licensing analyst and they will just give me the email add.

I called the board weekly and finally I was able to talk to somebody(sorry I forgot her name) who is very calm and very helpful. And she made a note on my file for my licensing analyst to see the error. She told me to wait for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I checked and there now is my license.

Thank you to everyone here and goodluck to our nursing journey.

Hi,

Does anyone know what the following means on CA BRN's processing times website?

California/US

International

Does this mean California/US vs International Graduates OR does it mean applications sent from within California/US vs International?

Thanks for your input.

They just want a certified true copy of your school diploma.  Since you already passed your NCLEX before, the results are still valid, you just have to submit a new application for licensure exam because the previous application you did back in 2009 is already closed. When you submitted your recent application you should have included you PASS LETTER, COPY OF SSN AND SCHOOL DIPLOMA. Nonetheless, you can still submit those 3 requirements.

Hi larret,

Thank you for your reply. I already submitted a new application and send my pass letter, copy of SSN, copy of diploma and nursing license from Phils. My school sent the breakdown of education and transcript to the BRN.

Then they emailed to say that I need to submit an international diploma verification from DFA. I called them to say that I already passed the NCLEX in 2009. Is this a new requirement from them? Can this be waived?
