Passed CA NCLEX 2008, just got SSN this 2012, applied for CA-RN license

Hi to all! I passed the nclex last 2008. I just got my SSN last month as an employer based immigrant. Just a week ago, I submitted my Completed Application for Licensure by Examination including a U.S. social security number as instructed by the CA BON. My school also forwarded the needed documents.

My questions are:

Has someone gone through the same thing as I am?

What happened?

Did they release your license or not?

If yes: How long did you wait for your license?

If not: What did they say? Can you send me a copy? Did they make you do further studies?

--As i have said, I am on employment based petition, so with this, my employer is waiting for my license. With this, my life is on hold. I hope to be enlightened with this. Thank you so much.

I have not gone thru this, but why did you apply "by examination"? You already passed the NCLEX (congrats), you just probably let the license lapsed as you didn't renew it in a timely manner, but not sure if you have to take the required 30 units to renew, as it's in a way, your first renewal.

But I think you should have submitted an application for the reinstatment of a lapsed license, not the "by examination" application, as now this may just expose your application to more of the microscope review.

You just needed to give them your acquired SSN, pay the renewal fees and any late fees and not sure about the 30 units of classes.

Hi ma'am. I called the BON with this. They told me to do that process. That's why i am very worried.. :-(

Thats the same thing my cousin did she applied for it just like starting a new application,and once you provide them with all the requirements that they need they will issue you your license..so no need to worry too much...dont worry about the concurrency issue because they(CABON) are not after it,for those who already passed the Nclex-RN...;)

that is such a good relief if i will not be having concurrency issues like your cousin. i would really like start my life and just go straight from there. thank u so much. ;)

Hi! I am also an nclex rn passer since 2010..i am still awaiting for my ssn as it is taking more than a month already..i am now worried cause i cant do any move without it..my rn license will only be issued unless i submit my ssn to ca bon.. Did u encounter the same problem waiting for your ssn? How long did u wait? Also, how long did you also wait for your rn license to be issued? Please advise as i am really worried :-( thanks!

hey hi.. what do u mean by you are still waiting for your SSN? when u applied for SSN at the Social security administration office, u can get by mail in a week. they can even give u a temporary copy of it in 2-3 days. i waited for about 2 weeks to get my license.

Hi! Thanks for your reply..but anyway, yes it's true..it took me a month before i received my ssn..i just submitted my ssn to CA BON and they received it Nov 1..i am hoping it wont take longer before they issue my license.. Have you tried to call CA BON' s office to make a follow up on your license? Omg..patience is really a virtue..can't wait to get hold of my RN license.. Thanks!

This thread is really helpful!! Ive been looking for blog posts everywhre in nweb for cases like mine. Im also an nclex passer on year 2009,, took the exam in manila, and wasnt able to provide ssn within 3 years so my files has been destroyed too. But I am now here in CA and got my SSN already.... I called the BON and I was informed too that I need to re submit a NEW APPLICATION BY LICENSURE, transcript from school, fingerprint cards a a valid SSn in order to get my license. However, I am worried about their new curriculum/ educational requirements. So I asked the BON about it and they said every applicant goes with the same evaluation process. So Ive been freaking out since I heard about it. I was just about to mail my new application packet including the NCLEX pass letter. I really wish my license will be released too without any problems.. Thank you very much for posting your own experience here. I've been dying to know about others who had gone through the same path as mine. Thanks!!!:yes:

hi azirr05. we are on the same boat. I was also told by NJ BON to fill-up a new completed application for licensure so as to update because I already have a new address. i just received the form now. I don't know if I still have to ask my nursing school to submit my transcript of records to NJ BON. did the CA BON asked you to do another affidavit and fingerprinting since the application has them with it?

i hope this post can help me as I'm new here.

just an update. i did checked nursys.com to see if my name was regitered already in CA BRN and thank God my name is finally there! its been a month since my school and i submitted the required documents including the NCLEX pass letter (which was expired already) and a photocopy of my SS card. Now im just waiting for them to mail me my RN license. Thank God everythings ok now. Hope those who are in the same issue as I was before would be able to see this post so they'd know their NCLEX exam is still valid! cheers o us and thanks to ms. azir too! God bless us all!
