I missed the first day of orientation at the hospital where I was supposed to start working. The next day is tomorrow, and then nurse orientation starts next week.
If I showed up tomorrow do you thnk they would let me make up what I missed today?
Would they still let me participate and go on with the employment process???
I was just sitting here and all of a sudden had this panic attack. I feel like I need to do something...if I show up with my hat in my hand what will they do??? I thought it just wouldn't work out but remember when that kid on A Christmas Story got put on the slide and had to turn aroiund and clammer his way back up to talk to Santa? I feel like that. Do you think the hospital will do like Santa in that movie and use the tip of his boot to push me down the slide?

How did you miss your first day? Did you write the date down wrong? When did you realize your mistake?

I would also ask why you missed? I think I would call them and be up front with them, apologize and go from there.
It wasn't a mistake! I wrote them an email and apologized because I didn't think I could take the job, they know I've been having a lot of trouble with deciding. They've been nothing but nice and told me God will lead the way.
The evil nursing home tried to make me feel guilty for leaving and caused me a lot of grief. This just made life harder for me.
But I want to give it a try now! What will they say???
They're the next state over, 450 miles away! I would have to drive all night to get there, do you think they'll give me another chance?

I've had times when I just got mixed up and missed something important. I don't know what I would tell them if I were you, but it sure is worth the try. Good luck.

Not a very good way to start your career. You will have to show up tomorrow and eat some humble pie, but I would not expect too much. If you were my new emplyee, you would have some 'splainin' to do.
Good luck.

I would be willing to splain and eat crow and humble pie and even dirty old bandages from last Tuesday's dressing changes.
One of the reasons they liked me is because my employers told them I was punctual, never called in and always showed up when I agreed to show up. On top of that I take direction well and get along good with other people.

Are you planning to move? How are you going to manage employment 450 miles from home?

I guess you'll find out tomorrow. Why are you waffling on taking this job? What is your fear?
Eat the crow and the humble pie, but hopefully, you won't have to eat the dirty old bandages from last Tuesday! LOL!
