Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) BSN 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone! This is my first post after lurking and reading posts for over a year. My reason for posting now is because I haven't seen anything here about the current application cycle for Pacific Lutheran University's BSN program. It's located in Tacoma, WA!

My application was received by PLU on the very last day of 2016, and they sent me an email 5 days later saying they needed one more LOR and formal admission to the university. I checked in with my instructor again, and she sent the LOR very shortly after. I also got a letter from admissions saying I was admitted with a great academic scholarship just a bit smaller than the Provost. Yay!!

As of right now, I have a 3.93 cumulative GPA, 3.96 college level GPA and 3.975 in the pre-reqs. I'm also a CNA with over 3 years of experience in long-term care. I'm almost done with a pre-nursing direct transfer agreement at Green River: currently taking AP 2, Chem& 121 and two humanities/fine arts electives. In a couple weeks, I'll be registering for Microbiology, Chem&131 and two more electives for Spring quarter to finish up the degree. I guess in the meantime, I'll prepare for the long wait and keep up on my grades.

Has anyone here applied for the 2017-2018 cohort? Feel free to reach out! :)

Hi everyone!

I'm giddy with excitement! I received my acceptance letter this weekend for the Spring 2018 cohort, best Mother's Day gift ever! I look forward to getting to know all of you who have also gotten accepted! If your still waiting, hold tight!!

Congratulations luccabell29!!!!! & Happy Mother's Day too

Congratulations luccabell29!!! Happy Mother's Day! I can't wait to meet you and everyone in our cohort. :)

Awesome!!!! Happy Mother's Day!!!

Thanks everyone! Excited to meet all of you, turned in my acceptance letter and paid my deposit today. I think it starting to sink it, still feels surreal!

You're welcome!! It absolutely does feels surreal! Now to prepare for the next 8 or so months. It's great to know what our next step will be though!

I'm personally thankful for the Spring start, it gives me (a mother of 3) time to review and prepare.I have so many questions, does anyone remember what the co-req.'s are? I know there's a religion class. That's it I remember writing down during the orientation, not sure if its worth busting those out this fall or saving them for spring start. Any thoughts?

The Spring start will be great for preparation, that's for sure! By orientation, do you mean an info session? (I was actually just wondering if there'll be a mandatory orientation or something like that.)

It looks like co-reqs are Microbiology, Lifespan Psyc and Intro to Stats. I think most transfers complete this beforehand...I think the DTA waives most of the gen-eds except religion? If you don't have a DTA you might want to shoot an email to admissions. The first semester of nursing only requires Nursing Competencies I and leaves three open spots for classes. I'm probably going to take a religion course and electives to be full time. (Your acceptance letter should have come with a gold colored curriculum worksheet, which is pretty helpful!)

And just a note, if you're going to wait until Spring, you should email the financial aid office so they can make a note and adjust your package and loans if you need them. I just took care of this the other day too :)

Anyone have any updated news? I have been sitting on pins and needles and honestly getting a bit discouraged that i haven't heard anything yet.I am ready to know something :( hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Aswedberg,

You should be hearing back from them soon I'd imagine, they are still sending out letters between now and next month. Unfortunately, I wasn't accepted this round -_-. However I am going to try for some of the community colleges and possibly try again the next round. I received my letter earlier this week and submitted my application a few days before the priority deadline. Keep checking your mail and good luck to you!

Hi aswedberg,

I'am in the same boat but keep the faith! I hope you recieve good news soon, after all it is almost June. ***Blessings***

Hi Aswedberg,

There is no update in my case. I just received a reminder from Brandon few days ago, saying that I should wait until getting accepted to start enrolling if BSN is the only program I want to explore in PLU. Right now I'm really tired of looking at the empty mailbox everyday :(

Hi NC_24,

I'm so sorry to hear that! We all know Nursing is competitive and the chance to get the rejection letter is more likely to happen than getting the acceptance :( I also submitted my application few days before the priority deadline and now I'm not sure if I want their answer or not. I hope you will find your way to get accepted into other Nursing programs. Keep fingers crossed!
