Hi everyone! This is my first post after lurking and reading posts for over a year. My reason for posting now is because I haven't seen anything here about the current application cycle for Pacific Lutheran University's BSN program. It's located in Tacoma, WA!
My application was received by PLU on the very last day of 2016, and they sent me an email 5 days later saying they needed one more LOR and formal admission to the university. I checked in with my instructor again, and she sent the LOR very shortly after. I also got a letter from admissions saying I was admitted with a great academic scholarship just a bit smaller than the Provost. Yay!!
As of right now, I have a 3.93 cumulative GPA, 3.96 college level GPA and 3.975 in the pre-reqs. I'm also a CNA with over 3 years of experience in long-term care. I'm almost done with a pre-nursing direct transfer agreement at Green River: currently taking AP 2, Chem& 121 and two humanities/fine arts electives. In a couple weeks, I'll be registering for Microbiology, Chem&131 and two more electives for Spring quarter to finish up the degree. I guess in the meantime, I'll prepare for the long wait and keep up on my grades.
Has anyone here applied for the 2017-2018 cohort? Feel free to reach out! :)
So... I got a call today moving me from Spring start to Fall instead! I'm bits more excited knowing it's coming up quick. I'm supposed to be registering my classes next week! With that said...that opens up my previous spot for Spring. I hope ya'll get in! They are still sending out letters too ~ btw. Stay positive!

Hey! Did you receive your letter yet? I got my letter of acceptance a little over a month ago. I got accepted to PLU Spring cohort 2018. Yesterday I got an email asking if I would like to start in the Fall of 2017, which I said yes! This Monday is registration for nursing classes at PLU. Super excited!
creamie: It sounds like a bunch are still waiting, so keep your head up high. They're still sending out letters, and from what it looks like, they're even moving people forward to Fall. Let us know how it goes!
Chilli: I responded to you on FB but CONGRATS! I'm very happy for you! :)
Passionatenursing: Congrats to you too! So exciting! I hope you have a great start.
I was accepted to Spring 2018 and opted to stay-- I did think about opening up for Fall per availability but changed my mind. Spring is better for me since I already set up fin aid and need to put some money aside. Either way, it all works out!
A little down the road here, but does anyone know if our cohorts will be graduating together or separately because of the semester gap?
ivybui!
That is how i am feeling!!! lol At this point, i don't know if i want to know their response. It feels like a slim chance right now but i am also just incredibly discouraged knowing so many letters have gone out. I feel like my best chance right now is maybe a wait list letter lol. i also submitted just a couple days before the deadline and am SO TIRED of an empty mailbox! lol
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to say congrats to those of you who have been accepted!! That is so exciting!! I am still here waiting on pins and needles like others and hope that my mailbox has any news, good or bad sometime next week. I am so anxious and just want to know either way! Good luck to those are also still waiting!! Fingers Crossed!!
Hi all,
I have a question, does anyone know when the cut off date is for letters being dispersed? I know in June but is there an actual day in June? I am still awaiting a response as well, my stomach in knotts but haven't given up hope yet! We've all come so far to give up on hope now with it being June, the wait is just very intense. I am happy for all who have been accepted thus far and praying for all us who still await the mystery of fate.
Keep the faith, never give up!
Hi Ms.LPN2013,
I looked at the SoN website because I was wondering the same thing. If you submitted your application before the February 1st deadline it states that you will receive notice no later than the end of June. If you submitted after that then it is based upon space availablity. Hope that helps! Good luck and hopefully we will hear soon!!

NC_24,
I'm so sorry that it didn't work out this round! If it comes down to it, there are situations where someone can get in the second time around (like our friend Chilli!) I wish you the absolute best and hope you have success with your future applications.
To everyone who is still waiting,
I definitely understand the anxiety of looking into an empty mailbox each day, and I'm sure it's even harder having to wait the full six months. I think my classmate is still waiting to hear back as well. But, June is only a few days away! Like Ms.LPN2013 said, keep the faith! :)
