Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) BSN 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone! This is my first post after lurking and reading posts for over a year. My reason for posting now is because I haven't seen anything here about the current application cycle for Pacific Lutheran University's BSN program. It's located in Tacoma, WA!

My application was received by PLU on the very last day of 2016, and they sent me an email 5 days later saying they needed one more LOR and formal admission to the university. I checked in with my instructor again, and she sent the LOR very shortly after. I also got a letter from admissions saying I was admitted with a great academic scholarship just a bit smaller than the Provost. Yay!!

As of right now, I have a 3.93 cumulative GPA, 3.96 college level GPA and 3.975 in the pre-reqs. I'm also a CNA with over 3 years of experience in long-term care. I'm almost done with a pre-nursing direct transfer agreement at Green River: currently taking AP 2, Chem& 121 and two humanities/fine arts electives. In a couple weeks, I'll be registering for Microbiology, Chem&131 and two more electives for Spring quarter to finish up the degree. I guess in the meantime, I'll prepare for the long wait and keep up on my grades.

Has anyone here applied for the 2017-2018 cohort? Feel free to reach out! :)

I dropped my application off two days ago and have my fingers crossed! Good luck with finishing your pre-req.'s!

luccabell29, Thank you so much. Best of luck to you too!! It would be so cool to get into the same cohort. I have to say that this has to be one of the most nerve wracking processes. Just have to stay positive!

My grades are very similar and have completed my dta at TCC this past December. I was accepted to PLU with scholarships, but didn't get into 2016/17 cohort ~ they sent letter end of June. I'm trying again ~ also bringing 5 years experience as an EMT & volunteer work. I've officially been passed up 4 times in the TCC lotto even with a high weighted score, but will try again in June for 2016/17 Fall/Winter there. Olympic College is another one I'm applying to (new) this year...fingers and toes have been crossed so much I've contractures :-| *sigh*

Chillithecat: I hear sometimes it can take a lot of effort to get into one of these schools! The lottery systems just baffle me with the way things are determined. Did you send in your application for the 2017-2018 cohort at PLU? I wonder what the circumstances were for the denial last year--your grades seem to be fine! Best of luck!!! I really hope you get into at least one of the programs this year.

If I don't hear back from PLU by spring, I'll be applying for several ADN programs in March/April when they open up. The other BSN deadlines seem to have passed, so I'd have to wait until next year to apply. I'm going through the motions of wanting to get into PLU and also accepting the possibility that I might not. It can be difficult, since we work so hard and do everything we can.

I applied for PLU 2017/18 the end of January. With over 400 applicants and only 80 spots...I think my essays were weak. Anyways, they said notification by end of June again.

Hi all,

I too have applied for the 2017-2018 BSN Program. I previously applied for the 2016-2017 BSN Program and was notified that I was placed on the wait list. Unfortunately, I was not granted a spot in the spring 2017 cohort. My heart was broken when I recieved the devastating news but I know all things good come to those who don't give up and stay faithful in spirit. I wish everyone the BEST of luck, God is good ALWAYS...just keep the faith!!!

Ms.LPN2013: It took me a little bit to get back here to reply! I'm sorry to hear about your situation from last year! I imagine it was difficult news. But I certainly hope you get in this year!

I haven't heard anything from the SoN yet except that my application was complete before the priority deadline... From what I've read here, it looks like they might start getting back to people in April maybe? I've already started keeping an eye on my mail just in case, though I know it's a long shot. It also looks like the ELMSN students have gotten their responses, so maybe we're next. We'll see!

Hi bsnhopefully,

No worries, thank you for sending me a message. I appreciate your encouragement and hope we all get an acceptance letter soon. It is so hard to wait this long wondering, hoping and praying for some good news. I am again staying positive/hopeful, I've done my best and that is all one can do at this point. I too turned my application in b/f the deadline. I will keep you informed if I recieve an acceptance or not. I will keep you in my prayers, that we get the greatest news yet this year!

***Keep the faith***

:geek:

Hey guys! So I haven't heard anything from the nursing program yet, but a classmate here just told me that two people she knows here were already accepted while she was not accepted. This means that letters must be going out slowly. High hopes and best wishes everyone! I'll let you know if/when I hear anything.

A couple of new things. First, I got a text message today (weird, I've only ever heard of phone calls or emails?) from a current student inviting me to register for Fall 2017 classes, but I haven't received anything from the School of Nursing yet. I'm wondering if anyone else got a similar message? This might just be from the admissions office to a bunch of people, but I hope this is a good thing!

Second, a school friend of mine was accepted to the SoN last year but turned his seat down. He said the longer it takes to hear back, the higher up you are on the list...but I've read different things on the boards here, so I'm not sure how true this is. The long wait has some of us looking for signs in the clouds, lol!

Finally, I signed up for an info session coming up. I'm hoping to ask some questions and get some insight on how this all actually works. Some of the local ADN applications for fall and winter are opening up in the next month or so, so I'll be looking into that soon too. Positive vibes.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, like many of you I'm still waiting to hear back from PLU, my friend just got an acceptance letter last week so they are starting to send letters out. I don't expect to find out myself for awhile since I turned my application in on the last day for the priority deadline. I believe my friend turned hers in way before mine.

I'm thinking of applying for TCC, Highline, BCC and Pierce. Currently I'm finishing my last class at Highline, then hopefully I can get into a program somewhere. Good luck to you all!
