Out of attempts for NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello,

My state recently changed their requirements on the time you have to pass boards, unfortunately for me I can no longer take the RN in my state unless I go back to school now. IS there anything else you can do with a Nursing Degree without your RN? Thanks!

A nursing degree without a nursing license is pretty useless. It won't keep you from finding work, but it won't help you either.

You can work in any job that requires a bachelors

Does the limitation apply if you graduated before the new rule was passsd?

Is it an option for you to get licensed in another state and then apply in your own state for licensure by endorsement?

If I may ask for curiosity's sake how long were you out of school?

Only if OP has BSN. If ADN, not

Hey my State also recently changed the rule like yours. So i did lot of reserch. I found out that ohio, california, we can write nclex under these states. So don't worry. Just send all your infos to any of this state. I am waiting for my paper work to be done in ohio. ohio and california is unlimited when it comes to the case of writing nclex. So dont worry. take the exam under that state. and pass. you will be fine. Good luck and may god bless you.

I would suggest obtaining a license somewhere else. Also may i ask why did you run out of time? Did you fail multiple times or did you never take the exam?

You could take a position that requires a bachelors (or associates or masters, whatever degree you got). But work as a nurse you can not, not without passing the NCLEX.

Do as other posters have suggested: find a state in which you could still sit for the NCLEX and apply there. Once you are licensed in one state, you should be able to endorse into other states with little or no problem.

If you never took the NCLEX before and you can't attempt because it's been too long since graduation, then don't make the same mistake twice: as soon as you can get any state to give you the authorization to test, set up a test date ASAP.

However, if your predicament is because you failed the NCLEX multiple times and your current state won't let you test anymore, still look for a state in which you may be able to apply for licensure. However, you also may need to take a long and honest look at yourself. All these failures mean there's a deficit somewhere in you. What is could be, you need to figure out. You may have to accept that nursing isn't for you...or if it is truly your dream job, then you may have to suck it up and complete another nursing program.

Best of luck.
