Orientation(s)?

I keep seeing people mentioning that they have/had multiple orientation days. Is this normal? I guess I never thought there'd be more that one..

Whenever I called I was told that august 2nd is our orientation and it's mandatory, but they students who get to start clinicals (me) will also gave a clinical orientation that first day of school-- august 15th. Can't wait!!

And thanks! I'll just wear jeans and a nice top! Hope it will be okay. Nothing was mentioned whenever I called.

I wore my CnA attire. White head to toe. There was no specifics you can wear whatever you want. I enjoyed it, it really reminded me how hard I worked to get accepted and how hard it will be to finish. I'm ready.

i emailed the college with my conflict and they took me off the orientation list...i all ready have my schedule and books and just got a list for what we need to get for clinicals....

What exactly did everyone do during orientation? Anything special.. Like "yay you're a nursing student!"? Lol I don't know exactly what that would be.. But just wondering

the dean spoke to us, the assistant dean spoke about critical thinking, we had the some one from employee health come speak to us, we had a policeman speak to us about safety in the streets (its a school in NYC), intro to financial aid services, overview of academics, academic policies, registration for some classes, intro to the learning center (fancy name for the library and computer rooms)

(i did NOT do this from memory. i dug through my old emails)

this was over 2 days 9-4 one day, 9-3 the next with 1 hour lunch break

No, more like a "if you don't keep up, you won't be a NStudent anymore."

We heard from financial aid to talk about scholarships and FAFSA and all that good stuff. The DON came and talked about their philosophy, the kind of work load to expect, study tips, stuff like that. Then our professors talked about our books, uniforms, supplies, and whatnot. Lots of paperwork and info about our background check, immunizations, and all the random NS requirements. No big hoorah kind of things, which I attribute to the fact that it was back in May, so all the the alternates were there as well. We weren't all technically accepted in the room.

Orientation is this Thursday!!! :-)

We had eight weeks of orientation, meeting one day a week.

At my school there are 32 new students and we have a mandatory 8 hour orientation the day before school starts (August 20). The alternates attend orientation and the first day because if you miss either orientation or the first day you forfeit your spot. 20 days and counting!

We has. Three mandatory orientations. No skip or do overs. Or your position is lost. One is 8 hours, one is 7 hours, ans one has not been specified. We got our letters July 27 th. We had to submit acceptance of our wear by Aug 10. Submit background check, random drug screen titer results, immunization records, and CPR certification ( at least registered for the free one that offer students ) by Aug 31. Orientation is the 13 and 14 of Sept with a library orientation the 18' of Sept . Then we begin classes on Sept 24. Seems like not really enough time. But I will ft it done! I'm determined like that.

I guess it depends on what you call an orientation. The school I'm attending has a 'mandatory meeting' right after our acceptance letter to do background checks, drug screens and required paperwork. Then we have a 'Nursing Student Success' meeting next week which is 5 hours with provided coffee and pizza lunch, then what the school calls orientation the first 3 hours on our first day.

So if you include all of these then our program has 3 as well. 4 if you include clinical's orientation the first week of September. :)
