Published

Hi future nurses!! I just applied for OHSU's nursing program for fall 2020 as a transfer student. Has anyone else applied yet?

Well I’m sure someone will not accept and you will get in. I hope Portland sends out ours today! Last year it was on a Monday, so I’m expecting it next week.

Hey Basic .93, I read your posts and seems like you've applied and got to phase 2 to all the schools I applied to! Your stats look great (I'm always jealous of applicants with veteran cred). Lets see if we hear back from OHSU this week, and gl with your PCC's HSRT test. Hopefully we'll get into one of these programs... the competition's so cutthroat I can't take it.

You are waiting on Portland decision too? Best of luck, fellow cohort person! My most realistic guess is next Monday (27th). I highly doubt they read all the essays and finalized their decisions in 1 week. Frankly I'm very nervous b/c some of the stats others shared made me look week as hell.

Agreed, seems from looking at years past they send acceptances out 4-5 weeks after the interview invitations, which would make April 27 or even May 4 a reasonable time to expect an email. Not that I'd be upset about hearing back earlier!

Last year the for the Portland campus went out I believe about 10 days after the interview dates. I think Portland will be our today, Wednesday, or Friday. They seems like the send them out on those days.

Anyone here applying to the traditional BSN program at Klamath Falls? It's my first year applying to OHSU, and I did my interview on the 3rd of this month. I was told there should be a decision made around the end of this month or early May.

I am applying for the BSN program at Klamath Falls this year as well. It is also my first time applying, I'm hoping we hear back pretty quickly. The wait is killing me.

Me too, I want just to find out anything. I didn't do as well as I'd hoped with the virtual interview and I talked in circles.

I don’t feel I did the best I could have with my interview either. I feel in person interviews definitely would have been much better.

I find the process so unnatural. I don't like talking about myself and I prefer not to hog conversations, instead letting others talk. These two predilections will make the whole idea of a non-conversational interview very awkward. Even practicing, I don't like it. I don't think it's a great way to tell your actual personality/motivations. Doing well in that type of question might even suggest you're pretty self absorbed and love attention, hardy good qualities in a nurse. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Their methods are flawed.

What did the virtual interview process look like for you? For Ashland, they asked a set of 4-5 questions and listened to your responses. Was yours more open-ended? I think it's normal to feel like you didn't do great— interviews are awkward and it's hard to know if you are responding the way they want you to. I've never had a conversational-style interview (not even for work) so I'm not sure what that would look like, but I imagine nursing schools choose to do their interviews the way they do in order to have some sort of objective rating systems. Did this applicant demonstrate knowledge of conflict resolution? Do they have an understanding of diversity in the work place? Etc... Anyways, just my two cents for what it's worth. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

For those who have been accepted into the program (specifically Monmouth). By when do you guys have to accept your offer? Just to give us who are a waitlisted an idea of when they might start working on the list! Thanks in advance!

It was extremely awkward and strange; I felt like I was selling myself. I don't like to talk about myself either, and I felt like some people are better than others at selling themselves.

The interview for KFalls was the same; it was four questions about diversity, teamwork, and being a caring person. I just hate not knowing if you answered the "correct" way or if you ruined your chance. I hope to hear back soon, either way.
