  1. I had a feeling that might be the case... the rent seemed so reasonable! X)
  2. Yay CONGRATS! It's exciting to start to plan the move.. I'm hoping to live somewhere between downtown and Maywood along 290. Anyone know if there are areas I should avoid on that stretch due to safety? It's OK to me if it's not exciting like wicker park.. I'm sure I'll be too busy in school anyway! But I would like to be close enough to a train to go into town to visit friends. I figure I'll have to go and just scope it out in person to get a feel of things.. ? I did hear from a former student that Maywood proper is avoid-worthy. And Oak Park is a well known, affluent suburb FYI.
  3. Yes they emailed all alternates about it, but I can't imagine they're adding that many spots. Does anyone remember how many were supposed to be in each cohort? Interview day seems like so long ago..
  4. Does anyone have an idea how many people are on the waitlist, or in each category of waitlist?
  5. I am aware of other programs where you work for two years and they pay for your school loans. I don't see that for this program - so I am wondering why the commitment requirement? It appears to be in more critical need areas, which would be similar to nurse corps/health service corps/IHS. What is the advantage? Guaranteed work if you graduate?
  6. Does anyone have more details about the 2-year work commitment after the program?
  7. You are correct, they won't transfer! I'm going to take a couple of those classes ahead of time just to ease some of the burden/get prepped. How do you all like the program? Any advice?
  8. I'm coming from the west coast, I would be on campus (Maywood)
  9. I got an acceptance and am excited! Do you all live in Chicago?
  10. I had a similar thing happen to me... I was so worried about college being so much harder than high school that I really buckled down and took everything seriously, got my ducks in order and got everything done. I got all A's that first year. Maybe you're doing well because you prepared yourself mentally for something hard? That's OK too. This isn't just a nursing school thing..I have an unrelated background for my first couple of degrees and there was a ton of hype about how hard everything is.. it also builds up the cult and keeps people together. I'm guessing they see a lot of people fail out and they figure they should warn them that you can't skate by anymore.. also retention=$$$.
  11. if it helps I spent forever on the essays and I didn't get in either. I don't have the PCE that others on this forum did. I think that's what matters most, essays are a formality after that.
  12. Travel CNA? I never even heard of this before! Interesting!
  13. What is your passion that brought you to nursing, if you are willing to share? Edit: typo
  14. For those accepted, how many years of healthcare experience did you have at time of application?
