OHSU 3 Year BSN, 2019 Fall Start!!!

Based off what I've read in forums from previous cohorts, it sounds like the interview emails have historically been sent out mid-march. I can't find anything on the OHSU website to confirm that, though. Ahhh the waiting kills me!

OHSU 3 Year BSN, 2019 Fall Start!!!

I also applied to the 3-year program! Sounds like I'm similar situation as a lot of you. I have a previous bachelors degree (Latin American Studies), with a 2.8 GPA (which has been the death of my applications at other schools) and a 3.8 pre-requisite GPA. All of my classes are finished except for Micro, which I'm currently taking. I have around 1,500 hours of health care experience as an EMT and clinic assistant. The application was EXTENSIVE! Not sure how I felt about my essays, but I guess time will tell. I've been rejected by two schools already, and I'm on an alternate list for another... feeling very ready to be done with applications! Good luck, everyone

@keighlyanne Thanks for the response! I think you've confirmed my suspicion that my undergrad GPA is probably what got it my way— wish I could go back and slap some sense into my 20 year old self! Fingers crossed the waitlist works out for me! Congrats on being accepted!! Best of luck to you

For those of you who got invited for the interview, would you be comfortable sharing your stats (GPA's, work/volunteer experience, etc)? I want to try to amp up my application for the next application cycle, but I'm not sure what areas to focus on. Thanks!

I'm also on the waitlist. I called to get some specifics and they said they couldn't give me any information about the waitlist. Sounds like they don't do any sort of ranking system... I think I'll end up denying my spot on the alternate list, because I can't leave my work in limbo about whether or not I'm leaving. Without an idea of where I'm at on the list, I don't want to put my job on the line.

I also got an email saying I'm an alternate. Little bummed, but honestly the October start works better for me anyways. They didn't say what number on the waitlist I am, so I'm going to call and see if they can give me a better idea of my chances. Congrats to those who got it!

I've had a hard time finding information on this topic, as well. My gut tells me— given how short the essay was and how vague the prompt was— that it probably doesn't hold nearly as much weight as the other parts of the application.

Thank you both for your advice, I really appreciate it! I will look into those areas (if I get accepted). How has the nursing school application process been for you all? I've applied to 3 schools, all of which denied me for my undergrad GPA (2.8). It's been such a frustrating process, especially since EVERY school has such different requirements. I'm really counting on DSON being the one!!

Are you from Colorado? What are your thoughts on good towns/areas to live in near the school? I loved Boulder (for access to the mountains) but don't think I would want to make the commute into Denver everyday... February can't come soon enough!!
