Published

Hi future nurses!! I just applied for OHSU's nursing program for fall 2020 as a transfer student. Has anyone else applied yet?

My interview was on April 7th at 1015am

Me too? I wonder how many people they have on their highly list!

I've gone through past post and some campuses accept the top 3 and some go through more of the list but they don't specify if they make it to moderately or somewhat section

OHSU campuses? Well hey at least we were placed on the "highly" list? It's so hard for me to not feel defeated right now! But we still have a chance!

yes, OHSU campuses. I feel the same but at least we still have the chance. We should hear back in the next couple of weeks if anyone declined or not.

And when did you hear back from them after your interview?

Oh never mind I see it was today

This morning. I got on the highly waitlist ?

Did people apply to more than one OHSU campus? I maybe misread on NursingCAS it seemed like they were asking us to only apply to one location. Maybe they actually meant apply separately if you want to apply to many locations?

You can only apply to one OHSU campus per an application year. I wish you could apply to at least 2 campuses but unfortunately that is not the case.

Hi everybody. 2nd time Portland Campus applicant here. It sounds like other campuses are actually doing interviews instead of typed essays?

What are your thoughts on the possibility of us getting a final decision by end of this week? It would be 2 weeks by then... the wait is killing me!

Well I’m sure someone will not accept and you will get in. I hope Portland sends out ours today! Last year it was on a Monday, so I’m expecting it next week.

You are waiting on Portland decision too? Best of luck, fellow cohort person! My most realistic guess is next Monday (27th). I highly doubt they read all the essays and finalized their decisions in 1 week. Frankly I'm very nervous b/c some of the stats others shared made me look week as hell.

I did not receive an invitation to interview, but here are my stats to put admissions into perspective

-4.0 pre-req and cumulative GPA
-All required courses completed
-100+ volunteer hours on the Mother-baby unit at OHSU
-Completed Nurse-Midwifery shadow
-Both Chemistry and humanities courses on my transcript

It boggles my mind how someone with your stats couldn't make it past phase 1. This Is my 3rd yr attempt at nursing school (2nd at OHSU), so don't lose hope! Get more direct patient care exp as a CNA, MA, or EMT, you really need it to stand a chance IMO. Volunteering and shadowing can only get you so far vs other applicants who got thousands of hours of exp over you. I tried to get in w/o doing CNA, and while I got to the interviews, I was ruthlessly rejected. I'm applying with 1 yr of CNA experience and I feel like I have a shot at least making it into highly likely wait list.
