I'm a new LPN, just started working home health. I believe I will go back to school and work on my prerequisites toward RN in the fall. I live in Tulsa.

Hi all, John here, originally from Blanchard, now in Del City. Graduated from the school of remedial nursing (OKCCC), worked at first in the stepdown unit at St. Anthony's, then found myself in the PICU at Children's hospital. Did a short time in Texas at a rural ED, but found myself drawn back to the PICU.

I'm an Okie too -- you can make $20 or more if you negotiate well. :) I get better at it all the time. Graduated in 2001 elsewhere and then moved back to OKC. Have a second job at St. Anthony's to pay for my kids' college.

Have done a lot of clinical trials in the past, now doing NIH research studies. Nurstiff, what area(s) are your studies in? Hospital affiliated or private research co?

Hello,

I graduated from SWOSU and work at a LTC facility. I have been an RN for exactly one year now. I am looking to move to Yukon or Mustang in the near future and pursue hospital nursing.

I am still an Okie at heart.

Not a nurse in Oklahoma but some of the people I love most have been your patients.

My beloved uncle tells of kind nurses who laugh at his humor.

THANK YOU my brother & sisters in nursing!

It's been waaaaaaay too long ago for me to have any feelings about the program out there. And frankly I believe that with respect to nursing school it's really what you put into it which determines what you get out of it.

But still I have to ask: What did you mean by the "school of remedial nursing" comment?

i am finishing up my pre reqs this semester at casc sallisaw ok and hoping to be accepted to casc or connors nursing program. i am wanting to work in obstetrics or pediatrics. anyone have any helpful advice about that field of nursing?

Hi, everybody. I just started with this site and am happy to see a section for Oklahoma. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to get many visits, but will check back periodically.

I live in OKC, work at Special Care Nursery/NICU at OU Med Ctr and have a love/hate relationship with my job: love the patients, learn something new every day, but hate the frequent staffing crunches (not uncommon to nursing of all types, right?).

I am recently remarried to the world's greatest, have some great kids, and now am enjoying being "Nanna". Would not mind getting to know some other Oklahoma nurses out there. Bye for now.

Just thought I would stop in and say Hi welcome to the site. I am a nursing student in my 3rd semester at OKCCC and I work at OU on the Med- Surg floor at Presby as a Nurse Partner I am trying to transfer to OB for May.

Hi everyone! I thought I had posted here before but I guess not.

My name is Sarah. I live in Northern OKlahoma, about 15 miles from Kansas border. I have been a RN for almost 3 years. I was a LPN before that for 4 years. Currently I am PCC for a Hospice. I have also worked Med Surg and LTC. I am married. Have 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy.

:flowersfo Hi ya'll!!! Good to see there are some Oklahomans using this site!!!! I'm originally from Texas, but went to nursing school here in the Lawton-Ft. Sill area. I have been an LPN working in family medicine for four years. I am a single parent of four great kids. I have been taking some prerequesites at Cameron University and cannot decide whether to take the ADN or BSN track. I'm leaning toward the ADN because it's the shorter program and I figure I can work towards the BSN at a slower pace. Any advice???

Specializes in Adolescent Psych, PICU.

It is great to meet so many nurses/pre-nurses in Oklahoma :)

I am attending UCO and have almost all of my pre-reqs done and will be applying to both UCO (1st choice) and OU (2nd choice just because I have a lot of negatives about their nursing program for some reason).

I want to eventualy be a NP, that is my dream. I was pre-med for the last 2 years but after talking with sooo many female physicians with children who said they wouldn't do it again and would have gone the PA or NP route, I'm set on nursing and am excited about it!

The only thing is, how much do nurses in OKC make? I have no clue but would like an average. I have heard everrything from $15/hr all the way to $20/hr....for new nurses just starting out.

Also how hard is it to get into UCO program? For those who have been accepted what was your GPA and what is the essay question?

Marilyn
