Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Published

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

Everything was fine once my nerves settled down! Lol Today was pretty much getting books and going over the syllabus. I love the fact that we have a very small class so far only five of us so far! I'll post an update at the end of the week.

Five is great! Is that for clinical/lab or is that your lecture?

I think I have 42 in my lec and there are 8 in my clinical cohort. Syllabus is about 30 pages which is cake compared to those in here with the veritable textbook for a syllabus 😅

This was for lecture. There is actually 24 students in the cohort. The syllabus was 27 pages, but that doesn't worry me. Or should I be? LOL :nailbiting:

Anyone else at Austin Community College? We have orientation Aug. 20 and start classes Aug. 24.

I just spent 2 full days looking for a rolling backpack. I narrowed it down to 2, so I ordered both and will keep the one I like.

Amazon loves me right now.

Good luck everyone!

Yes, I remember you! I finished all of my pre nursing classes at South. How is everything going? And YES we finally made it!! Congratulations!!

Going well thanks we moved from SC, to KS and now to TX so a few changes but it's nice to be settled so things can be completed. A little frustrated that I have to repeat chemistry (South U chem was not accepted) but I'll survive!

Hi everyone! I start in august, finishing up my last prereq now- thought I was done but one class I thought was covered by my bachelor's wasn't. I wish our bookstore would tell us the books we need already! I'm afraid I'm going to have to buy them new if they wait much longer :(

I had to retake math and A&P because they were more than two years old! UGH! But thank God the program I'm in allows you to take those classes along with the core classes. Today was my second day of class and so far I'm loving it!

I have orientation for my BSN at the end of July and start in August. I've told myself to enjoy this summer as it may be the last vacation I'll have for a while but I just want to start class already. I'm worried about the book situation as I'll be commuting on a motorcycle and I can't lug too many with me. Congrats to everybody and good luck!

My bookstore hasn't told us either, and I'm worried about that too. Really don't want to pay those outrageous prices :(

Do you have an iPad, tablet, or eReader of any sort? Or laptop. You could buy ebooks.

Just got the information from school to register for Fall semester, have that taken care of now. Just need to get the additional paperwork into the financial aid office so that my award package will be able to be adjusted to reflect the loss of income once I go part time when the semester starts.

Good luck for those that are trying to get ahold of their book lists. After some searching on my school's site I was able to find my book list. I was able to find everything on amazon. Still have more things to buy, scrubs, shoes and such. Going to cost me an additional few hundred dollars at least.

Does anyone else think that getting into a nursing school is more competitive this year ?

For example, Sf state is only on the 9th alternate while last year they got down to #56.
