Hi all! Is anyone an applicant for the ABSN program for the 2019-2020 cohort for OHSU? It's such a competitive program and I'd love to share insights and chat with anyone else going for it this year. As you might be able to tell, I'm applying for the nurse-midwifery program. My stats aren't that great but I'm going to cross my fingers and hopefully learn from the experience ?

I still need A&PIII, micro, nutrition, and human development. My undergrad GPA is less-than-stellar (3.35), but I graduated in 2012 and took a lot of chemistry and calculus. My pre-req GPA is 4.0, I have volunteer and teaching experience, and I have about 800 hours of healthcare experience as an inpatient phleb. From what I've heard, that position isn't looked at as fondly as a CNA or MA, but I work with patients and deal with Epic a lot, and I respond to codes, which I think is really valuable. Anywho, I'm getting very anxious to see if I get an interview...
hi, you most likely will. sounds like you are a good fit. ?
Hi all! I’m a little late to the thread, but I thought I’d jump in and say hello and good luck to everyone. I’m starting to feel very anxious waiting for interview invites. I was only able to apply for OHSU because my pre-reqs are not complete for Linfield and I do not have my CNA for Concordia. Is anyone else just applying for OHSU?

Same! If I don’t get accepted to OHSU this round, then next round I’ll hopefully be able to apply to Linfield and Concordia. Although I’m not sure I’ll be able to get my CNA. But just applied to OHSU for now.
Hey all! I'm applying to the ABSN-only track in Portland, along w some other schools in Boston. I grew up in the area and am really hoping I'll get to return! I have a lot of really great experience and good pre-req grades, but not the greatest undergrad GPA, due to some health issues. Crossing my fingers about the interviews!
Hey all--finally made an account to comment once I saw this thread. I'm in my early thirties and am making a big career shift into nursing--I've slowly been taking prereqs for the past four years (I'm a stay at home mom and could only take one class at a time!) and am finally able to apply. I want to be a midwife but this year I "just" applied for the ABSN in Portland as I don't yet have any doula experience and the admissions people told me that was a must for the ABSN-DNP Midwifery track. I'm just dying to see if I will get in, even though some family issues would make it difficult for me to accept even if I did make it.
I'm insecure about my lack of healthcare experience (I have an English and Creative Writing background and before my kids were born I taught writing courses at a university and community college) but am fairly confident about my GPA (overall 3.86, pre-req 4.0). If I don't get in I will spend the next year trying to accrue more volunteer experience and finally get my doula certification and try again. Good luck to everyone!

Since the ABSN is 5 terms, I believe any student pursuing ABSN and DNP would need to start in the summer, in order to complete ABSN the following Summer and be eligible to start the DNP program in the Fall. https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/education/schools/school-of-nursing/programs/programs-of-study-page.cfm
Yes, thanks for making this thread! I applied to ABSN-FNP Ashland and ABSN Ashland. I have a 3.4 cumulative from bachelors and masters and prereqs are a bit higher although I haven't counted them up. I applied to ABSN programs all over the country and so far have gotten into two expensive ones, so I'm still holding out for OHSU. I would love to stay closer to my family and build a network in Oregon where I want to work but if I don't get in then I'll just have to see where it takes me. I'm still finishing stats, A&P, and genetics (my classes expired). I've been an EMT for four years and have research experience so I'm hoping that'll stand out on my application. Hopefully we hear something soon!! Fingers crossed, and good luck everybody!
Also I think the admissions committee told me the acceptance rate was about 16% last year for Portland and Ashland and lower for the ABSN-FNP, maybe around 6%.
