OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

Hi all! Is anyone an applicant for the ABSN program for the 2019-2020 cohort for OHSU? It's such a competitive program and I'd love to share insights and chat with anyone else going for it this year. As you might be able to tell, I'm applying for the nurse-midwifery program. My stats aren't that great but I'm going to cross my fingers and hopefully learn from the experience ?

Hi! I applied as well, fingers crossed for both of us! The next few months are going to be long. I'm a bit worried I won't be competitive enough, I have about a 3.75 although I have a ton of healthcare experience and volunteer experience. I'm applying for 6 schools so hopefully someone will take me!

I applied to the ABSN program but I don't believe I have a competitive application since I had a term in my undergrad where I had to retake a few courses that I failed the term my dad passed away. Those grades were replaced for my undergrad degree GPA, but the Fails and the subsequent retakes were taken into my overall GPA (4 classes in total) and it dinged me a quite a bit. Prereq GPA is 3.8, but I don't think that is enough. I also applied to Linfield's ABSN and if neither of these programs work out I will be taking additional courses to apply to Corcordia at PDX, but that would have to be a start of next year, so I'd also be reapplying to both OHSU and Linfield.

I applied for the FNP track. Does anyone know a general timeline of when we can expect to be hearing back??

So great to meet you guys!! I'm so glad there's a few of us, lol. My stats aren't that great either - around 3.5 undergrad but busted my butt up to 3.9 for prereqs. Not much healthcare experience but I know this is what I want to do!!

@smarinoff I think interview notifications around usually around 2 weeks before the interview date!

@bhosk are you just going for ABSN? or ABSN-DNP?

I applied for Linfield ABSN as well. From what I've heard OHSU more focuses on pre-req GPA than undergrad and also takes into consideration some of the info they ask on your supplemental questions. We will see!

@hopefulnursemidwife No, just the ABSN. I'm not super interested in going further than my BSN (for now at least, maybe in the future).

Hi! I also applied for OHSU’s ABSN. I’m not super hopeful since I haven’t finished all the pre recs yet but the admissions person I spoke with said that wasn’t a huge deal. I’ve heard this program is really competive. Does anyone know the acceptance rate?

@Tma18 Yay!!! Have you heard back about interviews yet? I read somewhere anywhere from 10% to 50% after interviews. But they're opening the DNP program this year so that might all change, I'm guessing...

@hopefulnursemidwife I haven’t heard back about interviews. Their website has interview dates for the ABSN program as February 28th and March 1st so I think emails will go out 2-3 weeks before those dates. Has anyone heard much about the interview format? I know they are group interviews but not much else.
