OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

Published

Hi all! Is anyone an applicant for the ABSN program for the 2019-2020 cohort for OHSU? It's such a competitive program and I'd love to share insights and chat with anyone else going for it this year. As you might be able to tell, I'm applying for the nurse-midwifery program. My stats aren't that great but I'm going to cross my fingers and hopefully learn from the experience ?

Same! If I don’t get accepted to OHSU this round, then next round I’ll hopefully be able to apply to Linfield and Concordia. Although I’m not sure I’ll be able to get my CNA. But just applied to OHSU for now.

I feel the same about the CNA. And also, Concordia is pretty expensive... What kind of work do you currently do? I know a lot of rehabilitation centers (Prestige, Marquis) offer free CNA classes, so that's always an option.

Hi All,

I applied to the OHSU ABSN program in Ashland (and ABSN at Linfield) -- joining this thread for updates and anxiously awaiting news of interviews/acceptance!

I recently got my CNA (in Oregon) and wanted to let those considering the option know that "federal and state regulations require under certain conditions a first-hiring nursing facility reimburse a nursing assistant for the cost of training and required course materials" for those who may be deterred by the cost. This usually comes with conditions, like half will be reimbursed after 90 days and the other half after 180. Some facilities also have sponsorship programs and will pay for your certification costs if you agree to work for them for 'x' amount of time. Hope someone finds this info helpful!

I applied for the FNP track. Does anyone know a general timeline of when we can expect to be hearing back??

Hey everyone! I applied to the FNP program. I have my BSN already, so just applied to the regular DNP track. I contacted OHSU nursing admissions earlier this week asking about when interview notifications go out and they said they start going out late this week (as in, now passed) and continue into all of this coming week. Has anyone heard? I haven’t heard yet...

Also, I saw they extended the FNP deadline from January 4th to January 31st... wonder what that means?

I’ve been staying home with my daughter and getting my prerequisites done. Previously I worked as a medical receptionist. Concordia only interests me because of the online coursework. We live in Central Oregon so I’d be commuting/staying with family. If I’m not accepted this round, I’ve been leaning towards getting my CNA next term through the community college here so I can work as a CNA and finish my prerequisites while getting experience to hopefully boost my chances during the next round of applications! Obviously I’d rather just get accepted this round though!

But we are ABSN, it’s a different program from yours. The interview days are therefore naturally different from your dnp program dates.

Hi, yes, I know, I thought maybe there were a few other people who might be reading this who are on my track... there isn’t a thread started that is specific to the FNP DNP track for this coming cycle. ?

Hey, I actually just checked and the interview dates are the same for the accelerate bachelors fnp program and the regular graduate fnp program.... they are listed on the website as being Feb 13th and 15th for Portland and Feb 21st for Ashland. So it would stand to reason that the interview notifications would all go out around the same time. ?

I think some of us are just for the accelerated bachelors in nursing, the interview dates for that are Feb 28th/Mar 1 for Portland and March 15/16 for the Ashland campus. So we may not hear just yet.

Hello,

I also applied to both the ABSN and the ABSN to FNP-DNP (both Portland summer start). I finally found this and am so happy to talk to others who are applying. I have not heard anything either :(

Hi! Yes, it's very nerve wracking! I applied to the FNP DNP track also, so we have the same interview date opportunities. I will post if I hear anything :)

Oh wow 6%, that's super low! I thought it was closer to 20%..crossing fingers.
