Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Has any one done Health Interventions, Management issues or Legal and Ethical? I wanted to know what was the workload of these courses. Such as how many quizzes, discussion, papers etc. Thanks:confused:
I have taken Management Issues. 2 short papers and 5 case studies - which were pretty detailed - I have found the more detail you include the better. No quizes that I remember . Wasn't a bad class - I enjoyed it! I was glad I took management BEFORE strategic planning. You will do fine!
Went to check - 2 quizes .... how could I forget? Must not have been as horrible as my last SP quiz!!
Now that this semester's in the books, let's talk about what's coming up soon.
Does anyone know how the change from quarters to semesters will affect the on-line program? It looks like we are all supposed to have a session with an advisor at some point to go over the transition but it would be good to have some idea about things before then. It would seem that if they are lengthening the courses that there should be a corresponding drop in the total credits required. How this will work when you're partway through a program isn't clear to me.
Chuckster, I'm wondering the same thing about the transition to semesters. That's slated for fall 2012, correct? Also, feedback on the graphic indicating the path for course completion...apparently that's just an example??? I wanted to take 335 and 330 winter session I but 330 isn't offered. Am I to assume it all comes together so I can continue without interruption? I thought the graphic was how they lined out the classes. Anybody? Thanks

Is the winter class offerings posted? I looked yesterday to see if I could register for winter classes ... and nothing up yet. My advisor told me to "follow the carousel" - which is the graphic, so I sure that class will most likely be offered. Off to look
yep, classes are up. I want to combine according to the carousel but apparently it has changed. Arggghhh...always something!
5-week class offerings are not posted. Those are the 10-week classes - and here is the graphic I follow...shows that the classes you want are offered together.
