NP move from NYC to GA. Need advice
Thanks for your feedback. There are jobs that offer from118-140K+ on the east coast. My intention is not to take a massive pay cut moving from the east coast. However, I did not want to be rejected based on submitting unrealistic salary expectation. What is the ballpark figure for GA NPs with 1 1/2 experience as NP and over 15 years of critical care RN experience or just in general?

Thank you Core0. You are right. Getting a recruiter from Emory or Piedmont to return my call or email has been an impossible feat. Do you know what is the average salary being offered for Georgia NPs with 1+ experience ?

NP move from NYC to GA. Need advice
I am an FNP with a year and a half experience that is considering moving from the east coast to Georgia within the next 6 months. I am reaching out to NPs with experience working in Georgia who can provide some feedback on what it is like working as an NP in Georgia. I understand that Georgia is a restricted practice state for NPs. How do these restrictions affect your practice? Do you feel respected? Do you have autonomy? What are the salary expectations? Anyone one have experience working at Emory or Piedmont? Are FNPs allowed to work in ICU settings? What are the salaries offered and work-life balance etc? I have been applying for jobs in the ATL for the past 2 months but have not gotten any callbacks. Does anyone have contact information for any good local (GA) APP/APRN recruiters? Thanks for your responses.

I have been applying for jobs for 2 months but no response. Please pass on contact info of any local APRN recruiters (full-time permanent placement) Thanks for your feedback

Nurse practitioner salaries by specialty, experience, area
I have seen many threads on RN salary and cost of living per state/region but have yet to find one on APRN/FNP /NP. While salary.com does provide vague ranges of salaries per region, it would be quite helpful to start a Nurse Practitioner survey of salaries here. This would give a true picture of actual salaries and cost of living. This will benefit many in making informed decisions when it comes to negotiating salaries. I appreciate any information you can share. Thanks Please post information on the following · State you work and live in? · What area of APRN you work in and years of experience · Whether union or non union? · Hourly wage or annual wage, indicate base salary, bonuses, etc. · Ball park rent or mortgage/ in your area/region · Is the cost of living high or low compared to wage Let me begin: Work in NY as FNP, 0-1 year experience as FNP, RN experience 10 +years Union hospital Annual base salary $114K + RN exp differential $1.5k per yr of experience Rent average for 2 bed room $1900-$2500, Home prices $400K up. I think this salary narrowly balances the cost of living.

AANP exam 2015
I am new to this thread. I have received so much help from reading various threads from NPs struggling and some celebrating their success. Everyone's comments have been very helpful so I decided to pay it forward and share my experience. Whenever I fell in a slump I would go back to various threads for somewhat of a pep talk. I am happy to share that I have passed the AANP on my first try. I started studying intermittently in May when I set my exam date ( this was done to motivate me to study). These study sessions were 3-5 hrs a day on my days off until 10 days prior to exam I studied 8 hrs or more a day doing practice questions and solidifying those areas of weaknesses. First and foremost, I used Amelie Hollier's APEA review course via MP3 player. This was priceless as I had access listening to her course 24/7. Personally, buying the audio course worked better for me than attending a live course that squeezes in all this information in 2 1/2 days. Amelie is masterful at demystifying the information you need to know to pass the exam and also for your practice as an FNP. The review books I used was Fitzgerald and Leik. Fitzgerald's review book is great. However, I did not complete it. Her book is quite detailed in the summary that follows each test. I personally found that time consuming. Fitzgerald's app(Pocketprep) was the worst. These were not well written questions and answers. I had to refer to her book to see if she was asking these questions, and she was not. So I am not sure why the app questions /answer choices were so bizarre. I preferred Leik's book who organized the information in a manner better for the exam taker. Her exam tips are precise and helpful. I also did not complete that book. What I did was the practice questions at the back of the book and also on her exam app (Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Review) on itunes. There is an opportunity to do the tests by section, comprehensive, with rationale, or test mode. This is a great app. I also used Board Vitals (test bank has approximately 1800 questions) which was helpful in exercising my brain. The questions are more difficult than the actual exam. However, by doing these questions and reading the detailed rationales it was a great refresher's course. I bought 10 questions from ExamEdge and completed them using timed mode and rationale mode. These gave me good practice paying attention to details in the wording of the questions. In addition, it boosted my confidence as the scoring was similar to AANP 800 point system. On those I scored no less than 75 raw score or 569/800. 500 or mid to high 60s is a pass grade. In a nutshell I had 2 months of quality studying at least 3-5 hr/3 days per week then the final week before exams I studied 8hrs or more per day listening to the APEA review course, doing ExamEdge, board vitals and Leik's app. I found the AANP questions to be straight forward, no tricks. Leik's and APEA questions were more similar to the AANP exam. This is my 2cents or rather 50cents . Congratulations to all who have passed the exams and for those still on that journey I wish everyone all the best on your exams.

OU Online RN to BSN, Legal/Ethical Issues
How about loosing points for putting the name of the university on the coverpage. The Apa tips instructions TA gave us has this in the coverpage format. When I was in Business communication. I got dinged for double spacing my list of references. I figured out how to single space the references, now I get dinged for single spacing it. I think each teacher come with their own version of APA style. I don't get.. They are grading this class like it is an English class.

Hi Stephparm, I think we might be in the same group. I realize that we have similar schedules and was hoping for someone else to be group leader. Well after sending a note to our TA about our issues . Her reply was as follows: "The directions says they have to 7 pm tonight and then post in the final group posting with the group names - I will know who participates" Based on that information, I volunteered that I will be group leader this week. So I will compile a draft using only the discussion submitted up to 7pm tonight. This way we will be back on track.

That's a good point chuckster. I already incriminated myself by asking the TA this question and she said I had to use my own state. I actually recall doing a similar assigment in 'Transitions' and I used Ohio Board of nursing without any problems. Anyway I will get on with this assignment by using NY's information. Thanks again for the info.

Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! For those in Legal and Ethics assignment, do we have to use our own state's regulations? NY state nursing board website has very little information? I was thinking of using Ohio although I am in NY. Does anyone know if we can be flexible with this? Thanks
