Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Do you guys think that we expect instructors/TAs to have our assignments graded too quickly? Is it realistic of us to expect for them to grade (say 50+ assignments per TA) in a few days? I struggle with this question. I sometimes wonder if those who grade fast are really taking the time to read/correct what I wrote. On the flip side, wanting for an assignment to be graded when the next one is due tomorrow has me a bit stressed. Kinda like to see what I messed up on in order to make improvements. And I wasn't trying to still have homework over the weekend...

Deltaroxxy that's a double-edged sword! I almost don't want to see my first 2 assignments too soon before my paper is due because if I don't do well enough I'll panic and screw the paper up!! It's crazy, I know. I don't think there is an answer to this, it's all in how you look at it from a personal standpoint. This is stressful but you've got several classes done so far right?

Yeah...I'm on the tail end of wrapping up this program. I have 4 classes out of 16 left to take. I just like to see instructors grading style so that I can adjust/make changes. And I am currently in class where all I do is write...So before I get too comfortable, I want to make sure I'm doing these assignments right.....
I think the turnaround in a 5 week course should be very fast. We don't have time to wait before getting on with the next assignment. I think 36 hrs should be the max on straightforward assignments...maybe 48 hrs for a longer paper. What are you experiencing?
This is for a 10wk class....Turned in an assignment last Sat...One still not graded and all assignments are due on Saturdays...
Hey all...
I have read this entire thread. I am currently in a RN-BSN program in Colorado. However just taking Nutrition and Developmental Psych at this time. I am considering Ohio University for two reasons. Cost and time frame. It will take me
much longer to complete my brick and mortar school program than Ohio.
I am NOT fond of writing papers at all. And it would be required either way I go.
My question is: Now that you are in the OHIO program...would you recommend it to others lurking out here. I really have to decide soon. Do you feel you still have a semblance of a life with these 5 week classes?
Thanks...
Has anyone been brave enough to do the quiz for strategic planning? I have been busy with SANE this week - just about have the module 2 assignment completed .... just haven't opened that quiz yet! See it is comprehensive (hiss and boo!)!!! Will have to do it in the AM ... just really dreading it for some reason
