Roll Call Graduation May 2013
Camp Nursing was a great diversion from Psyche nursing. I really met some wonderful people and it was not a difficult job. We had 4 nurses. The camp I worked for is truly amazing and an experience I will always cherish. I would do it again for that particular camp.

Honestly...I don't even remember the classes at this point. I would have to peruse the old thread to remind myself. I know I just wanted to be done towards the end.

Roll Call Graduation May 2013
I just got home after being gone for two entire months. One month as a camp nurse in Maine...which was a great experience. Got my first look at my Diploma (which has been waiting for me to arrive back home). I must say...it is beautiful and I am so happy to have it!

I have NOT received my diploma paperwork either. Good luck to everyone. I will be camp nurse in Maine starting 15 July for 4 weeks. Then, I will re-evaluate my plans in the fall as well.

NRSE 4520 Health Assessment-Summer 2013...role call
I liked Family, Gerontology, Public Health and thought Diversity was a breeze. I disliked 4550 Evidenced Based Practice class and hated the book. It was disorganized and the tests did not match the material to read. I found 4600 easy to do for some reason, including the Indirect Clinical.

Wish I could help you out with this one. My advice...use your instincts. They are likely on the right track. You already have a good idea how the Prof grades your work. I think submitting something you are proud of will get you the grade you want with this Prof. He does not nitpick things from my experience. As for the DB posts. I was able to get humorous, and irreverent with some of them. One girl wrote a one sentence original DB post and I gently wrote about what a" Difficult Conversation" it was to have to inform her that her post did not contain enough information to make a sound judgement on what she had to offer as an opinion. She was the only DB post that had ZERO responses...so I decided to take it on...even though there was nothing really to respond to. I ended up with three solid paragraphs. I used techniques from the book to make the case. For the rest of the class DB's I decided to respond to others who had zero responses. It became a writing challenge for me and I chose to be very creative in my responses, it really paid off and felt like I was not churning out the same old thing. It helped that I was not chained to APA citations. Everything could come from my own original thoughts.

NRSE 4520 Health Assessment-Summer 2013...role call
Advice from a RN to BSN graduate 1. They are gently suggesting you go to ENT, ER, Optomotrist, etc. This would be the ideal scenario, but NOT mandatory...so don't fret about it unnecessarily. 2. Having more than one text book, reference book etc...really helps with the assessments. I had several books that were about physical assessment, really helped fill in the blanks. 3. Fake it till you Make it! No one is leaning over your shoulder watching you do these assessments. Use your kids, husband etc. Understand the medical parlance and what is involved in this particular focused assessment. Look for videos on Youtube etc.

That is great. I applied for a Camp Nurse job in Maine and I know my BSN played a major part in the money offered. It is a generous offer for a camp nurse for 4 weeks. More than I make in my current job. I have decided to ask for a raise at work now that I have my BSN.
