Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
oh, I hope they get that 5 week writing course soon :) That would be great!!!
Me too!! Or at least by March - which is when I plan on taking a jr comp class. On another note.....is strategic planning as clear as mud to anyone else? I am really struggling with this one - and it doesn't look like it gets any better through the next modules. Just turned in my first assignment and I am not exactly pleased with it. Just need at B- to pass :bowingpur

I find strategic planning to be clear, but I just took the management class that used the same book.
My challenge is going to be business comp ....I'm already counting down...
michellemybell, are you seeing a grade for the Mod 1 tests? It states if you're not happy with your grade you can take it again...but if the deadline is Mon at midnite when do we see our grade??? Mod 2 assignments will be posted at midnite tonite it appears.
I do not see the grades but according to Pam grades are not posted until Wednesday. I repeated both anyway and glad I did! I was hoping the assignments would be posted earlier....don't know why I would even think that!! This AP writing stuff is so old for me I'm relearning it!! UGH.....
So if we take it twice the computer keeps the higher score, correct? AP is a pain...every detail must be correct.
I got a new DARS report after getting the "final" one back in March. This one is TOTALLY different and requires a TON more classes. I'm not sure why they did a new one when the other one was finalized. If they add a million more classes I don't know...

I had the same issue when I took NRSE 300. You won't get to see the official grade until Weds, so you have to take the test for the second time without really knowing what the original grade was. Kind of a silly system but you only get the higher of the 2 grades.

Ohio really needs to get this whole DARS thing straightened out. I'm still waiting for my "final" DARS - going on 8 months now.

At Mtsteelhorse: No I am not in the class. I am about halfway thought the program. I am friendly with one of the OU instuctors, she told me they were redoning it to better prepare students with the use of APA format.
