Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Hi
Deltaroxxy, am not able to pm. Geront. and hlth interv. are similar to other classes that you have done. I had Nutrition from ADN level and am yet to do bus. comm. The office informed me that they are working on offering a tier 3 writing class related to nursing that is 5 wks. Am hoping that will be soon.
I am also disappointed that the tuition rate is $2 difference from prior. At least that was what the flier that they provided at my job indicated. Their is also a nrse 370j on that flier that is not yet available. Why advertise if it does not exist? Very frustrating!

Thanks for your input....What's NRSE 370J....I bet they offer a 5wk writing class AS SOON AS, I am done with business com. I am disappointed that since I've started in Jan 11, they have already increased the tuition. Just praying for NO MORE INCREASES before I'm done, since I'm a PRN employee at one of their outreach facilities, and this $$$$$$ is coming out of my own pocket......
I am done with Module 1 so it sounds like I can move on but can't post anything until next Mon. Anyone else done with NRSE 300 module 1? Instructor said to save as much info as I can...computer file or printed. I'm not sure what this means but I guess I need to make notebook of reference stuff for OU. So Deltaroxxy sounds like you are moving right along. Good luck!
The only thing I have left to do are the quizzes. I did print out some resource stuff like uploading assignments, contacts, etc. I didn't think we were to post a discussion until Module 3??
Yes I am! I noticed the assignment for AP are not posted. So much for getting ahead. Although the thought of writing a paper scares me. I need a giant binder to organize my stuff!
Yep..I invested in a big binder for NRSE 300, then 2 small binders for all of my other classes. I've only used a big binder for NRSE 300. With the 2 small binders, once a class is complete, I bind all the material together, then reuse the binder for another class.
michelemybell, feel free to PM me over class stuff...then I can give you my email address. That would be great! I worry sometimes that I'm missing something when I'm not in the classroom. I perused the entire course and the other assignments are posted...why not Mod 2 APA? It makes me wonder if it's an oversight or if they just want folks to really get the module 1 stuff down before moving on. I really wanted to get a jump on the writing assignments since they're due back to back to back! I love this 5 week set up though. I guess if we don't like our quiz grades we can retake them once but the questions will be different. Anyhow, glad to know you're in my class!
deltaroxxy2, great idea with the binders. I think I need a bigger one!

Yes, thanks Deltaroxxy for the tip! I try not to probe too much into future modules so that I don't feel overwhelmed or panic...but that's just me. I did a quick glance with a friend of mine but that's about it. You're right about missing something, lol. I passed thru that module several time to make sure I hit 100%. I'll do the tests soon then move on....well already took #1 but will retake I think. I did have trouble opening one small section and IT dept said they were aware and working on it....so keep your eyes peeled for technological difficulties!! Keep me posted and glad to know ya :)

Could be...I keep checking but the APA assignments aren't available for 4 more days...weird. I have PERRLA on my computer...anyone using that at OU? It's not fool proof but it sure does help. Apparently transitions is quite different from the way it was. Oh well...
