Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

Class is officially open...Let the FUN begin...Good Luck!! :)

So, how's everyone doing? I worked on NRSE 300 today...discovered layers I didn't realize were there! Seems like busy work but gotta start somewhere. Is this format typical for the nursing classes in general? I hope everyone is off and running!

Hi Deltaroxxy,

I am doing strategic planning and cultural diversity. I will also be doing cross cultural perspectives and growth and dev. with another institution. I hope to be done by December, God willing.

mtsteelhorse,

hang in there, you get used to it. It is pretty much writing and responding to boards. It is time consuming in that sense. Just make time and follow the rubic to the T, you will do well. If I did it, I take 2 classes at a time, single mum with 2 children, and a full time job, YOU CAN DO IT!

mswaili that sounds like a very full load! Good luck to you!

I have a lot of work to do in my business communication class, so I am pretty much done with my strategic planning assisgnment. I'm just trying to stay organized and ahead, so I don't fall behind.

The class format is pretty much the same. Some require a bit more quizzes/discussions that others. But I do believe that if you follow the rubic, you will be fine.

I am done with Module 1 so it sounds like I can move on but can't post anything until next Mon. Anyone else done with NRSE 300 module 1? Instructor said to save as much info as I can...computer file or printed. I'm not sure what this means but I guess I need to make notebook of reference stuff for OU. So Deltaroxxy sounds like you are moving right along. Good luck!

They just like for you to save your work on the computer just in case something happens and they didn't receive something. Is there something that says you can't post til next Mon? I've been in groups where people were a week or 2 ahead in posting their discussions. Also you can do all assignments except quizzes and just save. Then submit when they are due. Also print out your first corrected assignment. TA will have notes which will help later. I always use the first assignment as a reference.

Acutally she said to save as much as I could of the linked pages, etc. I guess to make a reference data base. Good idea to work ahead and save then submit. Yes, was told I can work ahead but the written assignments aren't even available to view yet for Mod 2...bummer. Hopefully they'll be posted before the week is out. I like to stay ahead as well.

This is odd....All of the modules are normally available once class starts. I wonder if this is something new being done in Trans (or for this professor).
