Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Grades are up for module 4. Can't believe they gave full credit on two of the three assignments just for submitting on time!
Someone posted about this happening the last time this class was offered. I need to motivate myself to finish these last 2 discussions and post...
Chuckster...Haven't you noticed that most of the quotes posted by folks make no sense. It's like we are all finding that random quote that just shoving it somewhere w/in the paragraph...I spend more time counting sentences in this class...
I spend a TON of time just trying to find something to cite and reference. Are all classes like this??? Basically module 5 consists of 3 essays and 6 mini-essays. I have just 2 more minis to complete and adios to 325! There were no comments on any of my graded assignments for Mod 4. After all the work put into this it would be nice to at least think someone reads it. Oh well, I think the TAs are burned out, too.
I forgot to come back and tell you guys I did turn in my application, and put in for my transcripts to be sent. So now I'm just in the waiting game. Deadline for Spring classes isn't until January 13th, with transcripts needing to be postmarked by the 20th. So hopefully I don't have any problems getting things taken care of in time:)
Well guess the waiting is on for both of us.Hoping we will be starting 300 in the spring !!!!
I just want to thank chuckster for starting this thread. It has been incredibly wonderful to come here for support, answers and venting! You guys are great!Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for the sentiment. I'd hoped that this could become a sticky so that when we're finished (hopefully by the end of next year) others would be able to benefit. Since the admins apparently don't agree, let's hope that folks bump it to the top of the "Distance Learning" thread occasionally so that newbies can see it. With well over 1,300 posts, there's obvious interest.
To those like mo2rn who are in the process of applying and waiting for their DARS, just remember that patience is a virtue that is highly valued by OU.
Happy Thanksgiving and here's to a well-deserved break. Then on to 325!
