Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

anyone else feeling frustrated by the lack of concrete information on therapeutic communication for nrse 325?

"you may have to install adobe shockwave software to run the video. follow the directions provided for in the course for log in. make sure you hit the next button to move between sections. some freezing does occur at this non-ohio university website. you may need to copy and paste the link into your explorer browser. if all else fails, search for an article on therapeutic communications."

well, all else is failing...alas, the end is near.

if this video is anything like the previous ones assigned in this course, i don't think you'll miss much by not bothering to watch it. of course, you may be running low on lunesta or red wine, in which case, the video may be very helpful.

i'm sure there's a ton of decent written stuff on this topic out there and i'd go with instead.

Chuckster, you crack me up! This last module is an exercise in flying by the seat of your pants. Thanks for the afternoon humor...I needed it. Come to think of it, I am low on red wine. And if I get that video to work I may need a glass!

I was able to get the audio working on some of the videos, trust me you're not missing much! I don't think I would've had enough red wine at the house had I been able to get the video working also!

Any one have the syllabus for 335 ethics? I'll be taking this with 2 other classes in January.... yes, I know CRAZY, but it will only be a 3 week overlap with the 3 classes. I thought if I could take a look at it over winter intersession it might help.

Thanks!

WOW! i found this thread 4 almost 5 weeks to late! Here I was thinking I was crazy for STRUGGLING through 325, ugh its been a long hard row! 1 week!

Anyone already fulfill their Jr Comp credit or cross cultural credit? That's what i need to do but i want "easy"

I have to take cross cultural course...will do the new 5 week course they're offering at some point...fashion and culture. It's open for winter session. I think it's RFPD 110. I can only handle one course at a time. Good luck!

I took Ethics..It's a cool class. But you have to do discussions as a group. So if you don't like working in a group, this will be a challenge.

Just finished Jr Comp. Loved that class. The topics were so interesting and relevant. It's definitely not an "EASY" class, but if you can write good papers you'll be fine. Also have 9 quizzes. But they aren't timed so if you need to take hrs, take hours.

I forgot to come back and tell you guys I did turn in my application, and put in for my transcripts to be sent. So now I'm just in the waiting game. Deadline for Spring classes isn't until January 13th, with transcripts needing to be postmarked by the 20th. So hopefully I don't have any problems getting things taken care of in time:)

Is discussion 2 3 sentences or 3 paragraphs for intervention?

is discussion 2 3 sentences or 3 paragraphs for intervention?

it does say 2- 3 sentences. i did one paragraph, just to be safe. most students who have posted did at least 3 sentences. the instructions were as follows:

1. write a three-sentence conclusion based on the data. post your conclusion to the discussion board.

2. your original post should consist of complete sentences and should be at least one complete paragraph in length.

Just finished Health Intervention! What a relief,:dncgbby: My worst experience with a class at OU so far.. Hated it.. Have to get out and celebrate.:clpty:

these are the same instructions we have in my section except that mine continue on to state the posting:

...must include a minimum of 1 in-text citation along with a reference from a professional journal . . .
i'm not really sure how you can write only one short paragraph that covers the 2 topics required and work in a citation to boot. can't wait for this class to be over.
